My Review:

Every princess deserves her own happily ever after…

Once upon a time (sorry, couldn’t resist) there lived an out lesbian princess named Olivia. She wants to marry for love but it’s complicated when the Queen presents her with a good match, royally speaking. Honor and duty has been drummed in Olivia and when the pressure of her life gets unbearable, she escapes to the Cornish coast in disguise. She meets and falls in love with café owner Rosie. Olivia keeps her true identity a secret from Rosie but when all is revealed, she may lose the one woman she’s ever loved. Can these two overcome the odds and grab ahold of a happily ever after or is it all a dream?

I’m a big royal romance fan and I picked this up for a British feel-good romance. I loved both Olivia/Charlie and Rosie. They’re well-drawn characters with depth which made this more than a fluff piece. The conflicts are honest and believable. The Queen, while lovely to see open to her daughter’s sexual preference, is detestable in her classism views. A clear antagonist to both Olivia and Rosie. The plot ran at a good pace, filled with plenty of drama and romance. I was sad when it ended and wanted more.

If you’re a romance fan and looking for a new spin on a modern fairy tale, pick up Once Upon a Princess.
