5 stars for Eerie by @eerie_o #yalit #paranormalromance #pnr #bookreview

Title: Eerie

Author: C.M. McCoy

Genre: Teen Paranormal Romance

Book Blurb:

ERIE was featured in PEOPLE Magazine and on INSIDE EDITION

Hailey must survive her supernatural classes, avoid the pants-stealing campus poltergeist, and live with a roommate from Hell. At Paranormal University, this much is certain: if her classes don’t kill her, the guy she falls in love with just might.

Hailey Hartley has just enrolled in the world’s premier supernatural university. It’s a school she’s never heard of, located in a town called The Middle of Nowhere, and run by a creature that’s not supposed to exist. But at least she got a scholarship…

Hailey’s dreams have always been, well…vivid. As in monsters from her nightmares follow her into her waking life vivid. When her big sister goes missing, eighteen-year-old Hailey finds only one place offers her answers–a paranormal university in Alaska. There, she studies the science of the supernatural and must learn to live with a roommate from Hell, survive her otherworldly classes, and hope the only creature who can save her from an evil monster doesn’t decide to kill her himself.

My Review:

Hailey’s dreams become reality and she’s left to wonder if forbidden love is worth dying for. Hailey Hartley is not your average teen. She dreams of a dark, dangerous stranger with purple eyes. Her dreams are so vivid, she’s not quite sure what is real and what is only a dream. When the purple-eyed man walks into her family’s bar, she’s shocked. Is she hallucinating or has the veil been stripped away? When her sister is abducted, she goes hunting for answers. Enrolling in a paranormal university seems like a good place to start. Between her full load of classes on all things supernatural and her roommate from Hell, she’s feeling the pressure. But her dreaming of monsters is just the tip of the iceberg. She’s the key to freeing the Envoys, like purple-eyed Asher, but to unlock the door, she must die. Will she make the ultimate sacrifice to save so many?

Eerie is a gripping, mind-blowing paranormal romance from start to finish. From the very first page, I connected with both Hailey and Asher. They sunk their claws in me and didn’t let go until I finished reading. The premise drew me in. The world-building was impeccable with emotional descriptive narration. It’s the forbidden romance, though, that makes Eerie such an intoxicating read. There’s a lot at stake for both Hailey and Asher. At the core, it’s a story about love, emotions, and battling your inner demons. The romance itself is ‘can’t live without you’, sweeping love with plenty of swoon-worthy moments. I thoroughly enjoyed it and furiously whipped through the pages. If you’re a fan of modern teen paranormal romance, you’ll want to read Eerie. A classic in the making, Eerie is a must-read. Highly recommend!

Author Biography:

Author CM McCoy (aka Colleen Oefelein) has one pointed ear, an 80-pound “puppy” from Hell, and a very active imagination. She’s well aware nobody can say or spell her real last name, hence the pen name. You can call her Colleen.

She’s a retired Air Force officer, an author, a blogger, and a literary agent with Adventure Write. When she’s not chatting with her imaginary friends, she’s either stuck in a book or interviewing with PEOPLE Magazine, ABC’s 20/20, the local morning news show, or INSIDE EDITION, where she promotes writing for mental and emotional health. She also mentors pre-published authors through workshops and contests.

Though she holds a BS in both Chemical Engineering and German (Penn State), she’s far happier writing near misses and awkward kisses. Some of her off-the-wall talents include speaking in 10-codes (which she learned working 911-dispatch for Alaska State Troopers), flying helicopters, and Irish dance. Her debut, EERIE, a teen paranormal adventure with romance, released in Dec 2015 by Omnific/Simon & Schuster.

In the business world, Colleen is a literary agent with Adventure Write. Formerly with New York’s Jennifer De Chiara Literary Agency and Inklings Literary Agency, she has 13 years’ experience in the publishing business. She also teaches German and owns and directs Alaska’s largest Irish Dance studio.
