Title: Mirror of Love (Mirrors of Time Book 1)

Author: Samna Ghani

Genre: Time Travel Romance, Historical Romance

Book Blurb:

Emma Miller is an intelligent woman who believes in thinking with her head instead of her heart. A total cynic, she does not believe in fairy-tale endings nor is she one to swoon or pine for some man. Her decision to visit Salar de Uyuni pretty much changes her entire perspective – about love, life and the truly important things in life.

Ashton Colyns is just like Emma. Cynical. Sarcastic. Witty. No idealistic notions for him either. But with his dry sense of humor and his irresistible charm, he manages to penetrate through Emma’s no-nonsense persona.

Amidst the excitement and adventure and through the complicated mess with Henry Tudor and Anne Boleyn, will Ashton and Emma finally realize they were meant to be together?

My Review:

Emma has always wanted to visit Salar de Uyuni in South America and right before her wedding seemed like the perfect opportunity. Her fiancé reluctantly agrees to let her go and off she travels (along with her three best friends) to this historical monument.

A chance meeting with a stranger (and a magic mirror) transports Emma through time and into the arms of Lord Ashton. Ashton is somewhat of an enigma to Emma yet she can’t stop thinking about him.

Lord Ashton likes Emma immediately and romance soon blossoms between them. When Lord Ashton asks Emma to help him with a delicate situation, she’s hesitant to help him. His charm wins her over and soon she is introduced to Henry Tudor and Anne Boleyn. Can she help Lord Ashton without losing her heart?

I loved this sweet romance and the only thing I would improve upon would be its length. It’s a short novella (only 58 pages). I read it in one sitting and the author weaves a gem. Complete with historical characters, beautiful setting and a simple plot, Samna Ghani makes me wish for my own magic mirror.

If you love time travel romance with dashes of historical places and people, pick up this short story. You’ll swoon, just like me.

I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Favorite Character:

Emma. Being thrust into Tudor England is difficult enough but Emma is quick on her feet and lovable as a heroine. She’s quick-witted, down-to-earth and has a propensity to get into trouble. “Off with her head.” *laughs* I loved everything about her from her logical viewpoint on modern-day love to the way she realizes what’s right in front of her.

Favorite Quote:

“There was something different about him today. He seemed more intense, more focused on her, making it difficult for her to concentrate.”

My Rating: 4.5 stars
