My Review:

Jocelyn is recently reunited with her sister and discovered she’s part of the Elementals. She’ll come into her powers once she’s met her fated mate but she’s not sure she wants Fate picking the man she’ll spend all of eternity with. Until she meets him, she’s been training to defend herself in case Malum Inmortalis (bad immortals hell-bent on taking over the world) tries to kidnap her again. Joce soon realizes she has powers which can only mean one thing: she’s met her fated but has no idea who he is.

From the moment he laid eyes on Jocelyn, Alpha werewolf Landon knew she was his fated. The only problem is she can never bear him heirs. Being an Alpha means sacrificing everything for the pack, even forsaking his own happiness. He tries to stay away but he’s like a bee to honey whenever she’s nearby. When she’s attacked out in the open, he realizes he cannot deny her anything. He must protect her at all costs, even when she can’t stand the sight of him. She soon learns the truth and is furious with him. Will she ever forgive him or will his nightmares come true and he’ll be alone for all eternity?

Burdened by Desire is an intoxicating paranormal romance rife with warring clans, a feisty independent woman and an alpha male who’s helplessly in love with her. Joce’s independent spirit clashes with Landon’s alpha personality and the real question is who’ll wind up on top. Compromise isn’t an option for either of these two which kept me glued to my tablet. Real relationship issues are presented and throughout the story, both Joce and Landon grow as a couple. Their constant bickering, while understandable, got frustrating after awhile. Fans of dramatic romance will love Burdened by Desire. Filled with intense world building and an array of paranormal species, I loved Burdened by Desire and highly recommend. I can’t wait for book three.

Favorite Character/Quote: Had he asked a question? She couldn’t remember. All she wanted now was a kiss, just one mind-blowing, gut-wrenching, searing kiss.

Author Biography:

J.L. Sheppard was born and raised in South Florida where she still lives with her husband and sons.

As a child, her greatest aspiration was to become a writer. She read often, kept a journal, and wrote countless poems. She attended Florida International University and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors in Communications. During her senior year, she interned at NBC Miami, WTVJ. Following the internship, she was hired and worked in the News Department for three years.

It wasn’t until 2011 that she set her heart and mind into writing her first completed novel, Demon King’s Desire, which was first published in January 2013.
