Avoiding Blake took up most of her time, not schoolwork, not studying. Blake called, and she brushed him off. For six weeks, she’d managed to dodge his efforts at having her come into the office or visit her at home or anywhere else in town. Until today. He snuck up behind her as she stood in line at the new coffee shop next to campus. She would have found an excuse to leave but he slipped his arm around her and tucked her against his side as soon as the barista asked for her order.

Instead of speaking, Blake ordered and paid for both of them. With subtle nudges, he guided her to the napkin stand. He took her hand and gazed at her. “I know you’re finished for the day, so don’t even attempt to tell me you have class.”

She avoided looking into his gorgeous blue eyes. “I would have liked a coffee, Blake.”

“It’s late. You need to get a full eight hours of sleep tonight.”

She raised her gaze and immediately regretted it. She fell into those blue eyes that made her want to do everything and anything to please him. “I do.”

The side of his cheek lifted and those deep dimples appeared as his lips formed a smile. “Why haven’t you come into the office?”

“Blake?” the barista called out.

“I’ll grab those,” Blake said. “Don’t. Go. Anywhere.”

He turned toward the pick-up counter, and Lis thought about staying. She considered it for a hot second, but she had studying to do. Blake would derail her concentration. Besides, this was her time. She’d negotiated it off months ago. She couldn’t get sucked into his wants and needs when she had to focus on her life goals. If he had really wanted to see her, he could have stopped by her house with some kind of excuse. He could have brought her a housewarming gift which would have been within the rules. He could have sent flowers after he fucked her senseless on Pussy Pleasures for millions to watch and download. He could, at the very least, have sent a text with something other than “why aren’t you at your desk?” like he had every damn day for six weeks.

She glanced at him flirting with the barista and the one word that kept running through her mind and heart was… used. She had been used by him.

With Blake a few steps away, she slipped out of the coffee shop and hurried toward her car.

Zane leaned against the hood of her glittery pink truck holding two to-go coffee cups. “And where are you headed?”

“Home.” She walked to the driver’s side. “Why are you here?” Blake called reinforcements? She opened her car door.

“I pissed off Angie. She left me and Blake here to find our own way home,” Zane said. “Could you do me a favor? Would coffee sweeten your disposition?”

You have some nerve. I can’t believe you’d bring him here, knowing I was here. Knowing I needed to stay away from your buddy. Don’t best friends trump guy ones?

“Not today, Zane.” She climbed into the driver’s seat and closed her door.

Her door opened. Blake gazed at her. “How about I drive you to your house? Or I’ll be your passenger? Zane can find his own way home, since Angie left us both here to rot.” He exhaled. “Lis, give me thirty minutes of your time, please.”

If money were no object, where would you go for a Spring Break vacation and why?

I’d probably spend the week at high end resort and spa in Arizona or New Mexico. I love getting massages and being pampered. A resort that caters to health, wellness and harmony would be my idea of a perfect spring break getaway, especially if they have great food and drinks, too.

What’s your favorite thing about Spring and why?

Spring brings warmer weather and brighter colors in nature. I was born in the Northeast (US), and have had my fill of frigid temperatures. So I look forward to spring after surviving even a mild winter, like we have in Central Texas.
