Book Blurb:

Later, they are informed of severe mechanical problems disabling the plane, leading to a crash into the sea. They survive along with only seven other passengers, incredibly the seven people from their game. The subsequent prolonged and horrifying adventure in a raft presents many obstacles to their survival including sharks, severe weather, death, hunger, thirst, declining physical and mental health, paranoia, and pirates of the high seas. Their long-awaited rescue from the ravages of the sea is just the beginning of their trip to Hell and back.

My Review:

When the passengers of Flight 2222 board the plane, little do they know what they’re in for. Trying to make a woman feel more at ease, Frank reveals a sort of game he likes to play. At random, they choose seven people and try to guess their names, age, occupation, marital status and quirks. While it seems harmless enough, it’s a weird premonition for what’s to come. The plane goes down and crashes in the water. The only survivors are Frank, Maxine and the seven passengers they picked out. Eerie.

Nine people stranded in a raft, waiting to be rescued. They’ll need to combat their own fears in order to work together to be saved. Along the way, these passengers encounter everything from sharks to pirates to starvation. Will they all survive or will they all perish at sea?

The Mystery of Flight 2222 is a survival suspense which reads more like a cautionary tale than anything else. It’s a gruesome study of human instinct, fear and what happens when all you have to look forward to is either death by sharks or suicide. I found myself riveted and I whipped through the story at a good pace. It’s quite gory on the raft, so if blood makes you queasy, this might not be for you.

What I loved most about this story was the unfiltered way the author unfolded the plot. With plenty of twists and turns I didn’t see coming, I found it refreshing. Neviaser peels back the layers on each character so you get a feel for their motivation as the story goes along.

If you like Shark Week and survival stories where the odds are insurmountable, pick up The Mystery of Flight 2222 today. Highly recommend!

My Rating: 4.5 stars
