“Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing.”
― August Wilson
What do you see when you look at pictures of yourself? Do you someone who's beautiful or do you see the ugliness your inner demons reflect?
We all battle our inner demons when it comes to our self-worth but there will be times when the demons win. You'll beat yourself up and feel low.
I look at myself in the mirror and my first reaction is to criticize. I'll look at the discoloration under my eyes and say I look old. I look at pictures of myself sitting down and zero in on some added weight around my waist.
But then I put on my boxing gloves and start doing battle with my demons. I counter each blow with a counter blow.
My eyes sparkle with joy and contentment.
I'm the healthiest I've ever been.
I'm a beautiful woman and I love the way I look.
With every affirmation I throw at my inner demons, the weaker they become and the stronger I feel.
It's a constant battle but with each new day, the affirmations you speak to your reflection, the more you believe it. The key is your willingness to wreak havoc on your demons. With each blow to your self-esteem, fight back. It's the only way to defeat them.
