Title: Christmas Vows: A Christmas Romantic Suspense (Calloways of Rainbow Bayou Book 7)

Author: Livia Quinn

Genre: Women’s Fiction, Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

So much more than a Christmas novel. Stuff happens in Rainbow Bayou at Christmas time (hint: weddings, births, kidnappings, second chance reunions.) In the seventh book in the series, the Calloways and Larues return for a story full of surprises as well as new storylines when the three friends go missing after a shopping trip.

Love isn’t the only thing that happens when you least expect it.

Delilah and Luc and Samantha and Jed are looking forward to their special day, a double Christmas wedding at the Calloway Farm with all their friends and family in attendance. Meanwhile, Beau and Maddie are expecting their baby. Great news, right? But after the women go missing on a shopping trip and a desperate soldier threatens everyone they love, the men in their lives scramble to make sure Maddie's delivery and the wedding come off as planned.

My Review:

A double Christmas wedding at the Calloway farm? Check. Beau and Maddie fixing up their home before the baby arrives? Check. Three women kidnapped at the hands of a soldier suffering from PTSD? That’s not part of Buffy’s plans. All hands are on deck as they search high and low for Del, Samantha and Maddie. Luc, Jed and Beau are frantic with worry. Who would capture three women shopping? Has an old enemy returned intent on revenge or is this a plea for help?

I’ve loved this series from the beginning and in this installment, Livia Quinn pulls out all the stops. There’s emotional highs and lows, suspense, action and at the center of it all: love. From the moment the ladies get kidnapped, the plot switches from a light-hearted romance to heart-pounding suspense. With each page, desperation grows on all sides and I couldn’t stop reading. My heart broke for the soldier and Livia Quinn gives an accurate portrayal of PTSD. It moved me to tears. The ending, while fulfilling, leaves it open for the next book in the series.

If you’re looking for a poignant women’s fiction dealing with a wide range of issues (weddings, love, veterans, PTSD, pregnancy, suicide), you’ll love Christmas Vows. Like the blurb states, this is so much more than a Christmas story. Fans of the television show, This is Us, will be hooked once reading Christmas Vows.

Favorite Character/Quote: At that, Luc made quick work of the locks and followed her to the bedroom where he found his fiancé in only her pretty lingerie in the center of the big king size bed. It was a good day to be in love.

My Rating: 5 stars
