My Review:

Laura Baker is an EMT and part of the Baker family, a known crime-solving family residing in New Orleans. You could call the Bakers celebrities but only when it comes to catching bad guys.

One night, a dying man, who has a thing for blondes, give her his Mardi Gras beads. Laura has no idea these beads will change her life.

Archie is in New Orleans searching for something he thought he lost. He needs to get close to Laura Baker if he’s got a chance to get it back but his attraction to her catches him by surprise. Before he realizes what’s going on, killers are after them both. Can he save them from certain death, or will it all blow up in an inferno?

Worry Beads is a humorous mystery romance set in New Orleans with the Baker clan center stage. Witty, smart and can hold her own amidst the Baker men, Laura is a quirky character who I fell in love with instantly. The sparks fly between her and the mysterious Archie. Is he hero or villain?

Plenty of action, twists and turns, you’ll whip through this mystery at a non-cozy pace. The ending shocked me, though I should’ve known Pauline would throw in a doozy plot twist. I was sad when it ended and can’t wait for the next installment in the series.

Favorite Character/Quote: Laura. Having read a few of the other Baker siblings in previous books, I found her to be refreshing. She’s an EMT so it was fascinating to see what life is like for an EMT. Her inner dialogue kept me laughing, especially when it came to Archie.
