My Review:

Isabelle is an opera singer and has spent most of her life surrounded by music and her voice has been her everything. With the onset of menopause, she loses her voice. Bereft and not knowing what to do, she yearns for an all-consuming love she’s sung about in her various roles. She meets James and he’s everything she’s always wanted in a lover but there’s a hitch. As time goes on, Isabelle deals with one loss after another. Her soul in tatters, she meets a man with a gentle spirit and a kind heart. Can his healing touch save her from all that life has thrown her way or will he abandon her like the others?

Not since Frances Mayes’ Under the Tuscan Sun have I been this spellbound by a story. The characters, especially Isabelle, took a hold of my soul and didn’t let go. What she goes through, what she feels is beautifully portrayed through poignant narration. Her pain soon became my pain and my heart broke for her over and over again.

The Healing Touch reads like an opera and I found myself overcome with emotion as I read. Each chapter brings something new and unexpected. Just when my tears stream down my face, a touching scene brings me to the edge of seat. The ending melted my heart and I gave it a standing ovation.

If you’re a fan of Nicholas Sparks or even Carolyn Brown, you’ll love this romantic story. I can’t wait to read what’s next in this series and by this author. Highly recommend!

Favorite Character/Quote:

“It felt as though I’d known him all my life, as though he’d always been a part of me, the male part of me, somehow. James felt like my twin soul. Of that there was no doubt. Simon was a deeply spiritual connection. But Angelo was different. Fragments of him lurked at the edges of my mind even though I’d only just met him. How could that be?”

Author Biography:

Angelina entered this life among the red dunes of Namibia’s deserts. There, where the Milky Way flung it splendour across heaven’s canvas, she found her voice.

As her family traversed the desert in search of crops for their herds of karakul sheep, a childhood filled with strange legends, amazing animals and wonderful people, became her universe.

Music by Mario Lanza and other tenors accompanied them on their travels and called to her soul’s desire to share her voice.

When she left to study with other voice obsessives, it introduced her to a world far beyond her beloved Africa and brought fantastic performance opportunities.

This led to an invitation to Buckingham Palace as a reward, and in recognition of her contribution to the music, culture, and economy of the United Kingdom.

Storytelling, such a big part of her childhood, became an inherent element in her performances, and she never stopped writing down her stories. When, due to illness, she could no longer share her operatic voice as she had, writing became her perfect creative outlet.

She writes contemporary romance to explore love, women's fiction to understand love and middle-grade novels to give love. What more is there than love?
