Title: Audrey: Christmas Quilt Brides - Book 6

Author: Nancy Fraser

Genre: Christian Western Romance

Book Blurb:

Audrey MacIntosh has lived in Castle Rock, Oregon since long before the growing town had a name. Long before the railway came through in 1881, and even before her Pa was hired on as Postmaster in 1883. As a matter of fact, she’s never lived anywhere else. At least not that she can remember. For those reasons, all she wants to do is leave. When Noah Davies arrives in the small town of Castle Rock, he’s immediately drawn to the scenic view and majestic towering mountain slopes... both a far cry from the modern city of Philadelphia, or the buttoned-up world of universities and hospitals. Perhaps answering the advertisement from the town’s retiring physician wasn’t going to turn out as foolhardy as his parents warned. Will Noah’s first unofficial duty as a judge for the yearly quilt-making competition rile up some of his newly acquired patients? And, how crazy does a man have to be to admit he’s fallen head-over-heels for a beautiful young woman who barely knows he exists?

My Review:

Escape to a bygone era and a simpler time in this delightful Christian western romance. Nancy Fraser whisks the reader away with her descriptive narration, engaging characters, a quilt competition, and a sweet romance.

The story unfolds in a small western town in Oregon where the biggest news is a new young doctor has come to stay. All the mothers and eligible daughters are all a flutter except for Audrey. She’s only interested in writing an article about him. All she wants is to save enough money to leave town to make her way in the world as a writer. Can love change her mind?

This may be a short read but it packs a wallop. The emotional narration will tug at your heartstrings. The setting of a small town in Oregon in the late 19th century frames an inspiring historical romance. The characters are honestly written and historically accurate. The romance, though, is what makes this book stand out from the rest.

The romance is very sweet, touching, and slow burn, as are most romances in this time period. Nancy Fraser’s writing style is reminiscent of classic romance from years gone by. It isn’t about passion but about falling in love with the person. Nancy Fraser writes for the romantic reader, giving her all expressively so the feelings and emotion are at the forefront. This book will make you fall in love, like you did with your first love.

I simply adore this book and want to read more in this delightfully sweet series. I strongly recommend this book!
