Excerpt
There was wonder in her voice, and he had to swivel to see it.
She stared straight ahead, her eyes wide, her lips gently parted. Her gaze dropped briefly to meet his.
“It’s wondrous.”
CabeX straightened in his seat, a smile edging his mouth.
Az’s cranium turned his way, but then he looked away without speaking.
Characteristically, it was Tals who broke the robotic silence.
“You have never seen space?”
Did he sound disbelieving? CabeX wasn’t sure.
“I had a poor view from my prison,” Savlf said, her tone conversational rather than dramatic. “There were walls and,” she paused, “yes, more walls.”
“That’s all?” Mic actually sounded shocked.
Hadn’t he told them what he’d found? CabeX couldn’t remember. It had been a hectic time.
“There was a door,” Savlf admitted. “Even when it opened the view wasn’t great.”
“This was our prison,” Mic said.
“Way better view,” Savlf observed.
