Title: Death at Dawn
Author: Sue Jaskula
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Book Blurb:
Newly wed after a whirlwind romance Emma McIntyre couldn't be happier or more in love. Until she wasn't. Working as a full-time nurse, a part-time bar manager, grieving a loved one, and aiding a drug addicted brother, she thought life couldn't be more stressful. Until it was. A small-town murder drives her troubled life into a tailspin of terror and her marriage into a spiral of suspicion.
Emma's brother, Sam Martin, depends increasingly on painkillers to get through the day. Proving himself worthy to the love of his life is his only incentive to get clean. Avoiding police and dodging his dealer, Sam is determined to quit drugs … or die trying.
In her frazzled state, how can Emma help piece together a murder while keeping what’s left of her family safe, herself sane and her new marriage intact?
My Review:
Just when Emma thinks she can't handle more stress, she discovers a dead body. Newly married is everything Emma imagined it would be. She loves her husband dearly but as everyday stress compiles on her shoulders, cracks begin to show in their lives. Her drug-addicted brother, Sam, can't seem to keep clean. Her two jobs are exhausting beyond belief without any relief in sight. But when she discovers a dead body, suspicion swirls around her family. She cannot believe the rumors circling her husband and her brother. She must do whatever she can to clear her family's name but what if it is one of the men she loves? How will she handle it all? No matter the outcome, her love will not fail.
Death at Dawn is a gripping romantic suspense I thoroughly enjoyed. I admired Emma's fortitude through a very trying time in her life. Her strength lies within, especially when it comes to her husband and brother. Her love is unending and it's admirable. I connected with Emma and Sam but for different reasons than I normally do when reading. They both made some serious errors in judgment and are vastly different from me, but I enjoyed reading the story. The plot moves at a great pace with plenty of suspense and intrigue. I whipped through the pages as I tried to figure out the whodunit before it was revealed. Sue J. is a brilliant romantic suspense author who writes unforgettable stories with depth, suspense, romance, and characters who leap from the page. There were times when I wondered if it was fiction or based on real life. If you're a romantic suspense reader, this is your next must-read. If romantic suspense is your reading jam, you'll want to read Death at Dawn. Highly recommend!
