Author Spotlight | @njadegray1 loves to spin a story with humor, romance and a happy ending #romance

I was a reader first. It began in high school with swapping books with the other girls and escalated to writing corny romantic stories for some of my friends. I had a tough high school English teacher and I hated diagramming sentences and such. (Still do). The writing bug really didn’t hit me until several years later.

After obtaining my Associates degree, I transferred to a four-year college to obtain my Bachelors. I worked as a student worker in the Creative Studies department. One of my jobs was to type a manuscript for a local author. I accomplished this on a typewriter with an unlimited supply of correction tape. The other student worker I worked with was working on a play. I enjoyed working with the creativity of the department and the local authors that visited.

Story ideas lurked in my mind for years, but I didn’t start getting serious about writing until after I married and had my first son. I was a full-time wife and mother and also held a full-time job. Fast forward to 2017 and that same story, All for the Love of a Cowboy, was published. It took perseverance, lots of rejections and edits before I received that yes.

Time travel and the possibilities of it have always fascinated me. My first two published books, All for the Love of a Cowboy and Raider of Her Heart, are historical romance time travels. Raider of Her Heart was released in April of 2019. Both are published through The Wild Rose Press. The what if’s of time travel spurred my imagination.

I’ve always enjoyed reading Christmas stories as well. My current work in progress (WIP) is a contemporary Christmas Romance, Tangled in Tinsel. Of course, watching and being addicted to the Hallmark movie channels (yes plural) are strictly for research. That’s my story I tell my husband and I’m sticking with it.

I still hold a full-time job as a legal assistant and writing is my second job. To all of you writers out there, keep at it. I can’t describe the feeling you will get when you hold your book baby in your hands for the very first time.

Cavalry scout Judson Stone needs to warn Lawrence, Kansas, of the impending threat of Quantrill and his raiders. Shot and left for dead, he awakes in a strange new time and place. Guilt riddles him over his failed mission as the days pass and he struggles to find a way back to his own time –and overcome growing feelings for a woman who doesn't trust him.

Sadie Winters has her hands full juggling a full-time job, a start-up business, and the chore of keeping tabs on her mischievous grandfather. She doesn't need the further complication of caring for the stranger Gramps brought home. Little by little, the mystery surrounding Judson is revealed, and she throws herself into helping him find his way back to his own time. But how can she send him back, knowing she's fallen in love?

Stopping in front of the closest stall, she smiled at Judson. “This is Skittles.” She cupped a hand to her mouth and whispered, “Don’t tell the others, but she’s my favorite.”

His gaze took in the stall and then met hers. A frown marred his brow. “It’s empty.”

Had the knock on the head impaired his vision? He must be teasing. She chuckled. “No, it’s not.”

His gaze followed her pointing finger. “Holy Hell.”

The curse made her and Skittles jump. He stumbled away from the stall. What little color he had obtained in the last twenty-four hours drained from his face.

Gasping for air, he leaned on the barn wall for support. “What happened to the tiny filly?”

She frowned as she glanced from him to the horse. “I don’t understand what you are asking.”

He struggled with swallowing before he asked, “Where’s the rest of her?”

“The rest of…?” A belly laugh grew and bubbled out from her lips. “Judson, haven’t you ever seen a miniature horse before?”

He shook his head. “Are they all like this?”

She chuckled. “Like what?”

“Short. Squatty. Not all there?”

Was he serious? The laughter died an untimely death in her throat as she noticed his features. He had to be. No way could she misinterpret the panic mirrored in his eyes. Her precious babies were creeping him out.

Mitchell Reeves is in trouble. Someone is sabotaging his ranch, cattle are missing, his sister is testing her wings, and his quarrel with a neighboring rancher has heated to boiling. Adding a beautiful woman who claims to be from the future couldn't come at a worse time.

Computer programmer Rachel Morgan understands machines, but fails with the opposite sex. When a dog plays chicken with her car, her bad week becomes worse when she wakes to find herself in the past—in a very hunky, very delusional cowboy’s bed. Time spent in Mitchell’s company causes an unexpected glitch in Rachel’s determination to get home. Love. Found in the most startling place and time. Could she go home, if she had the chance, without knowing his true feelings? When unwanted attention from another man turns to kidnapping, Rachel is torn between wishing she were home… and risking it all for the love of a cowboy.

Mitchell Reeves’s scanned the room as he stood outside the swinging doors of the Silver Spur Saloon. Where the hell was he? His nostrils flared as he reined in his temper. Finally, he found his prey. Sanders leaned against the bar with an arm around one of the bar maids.

The ornate mirror behind the bar gave away his approach. Jake Sanders turned to sneer at Mitchell as he crossed the room.

“Hey, Reeves. You look a little hot.” With an evil chuckle he asked, “Woman trouble?”

Mitchell controlled the growl clawing its way up his throat. “You know good and well why I’m here Sanders.” Silence filled the saloon like a fog hanging on the air. “I don’t want you near my sister, ranch, or cattle again. Do you hear me?” He poked Jake in the chest as he fired off the last question.

Jake shifted his weight, drew up to his full height, and clenched his jaw. “You threaten me, Reeves? You’d better watch your tongue. Accidents happen. Then I would have that ranch of yours and your little sister right where I want her.” Jake chuckled and smiled at a cowpoke standing nearby. “On her back.”

Mitchell felt his outrage bubbling in his throat mere seconds before his fist connected with his adversary’s jaw. Jake’s head whipped back from the force of the blow.
