Title: ETERNAL SEAS

Author: N. Christine Samuelson

Genre: Supernatural Romance, Past Lives

Book Blurb:

“A journey of love and life through time and tragedy that few have the courage to take, fewer live to remember & readers will never forget…”

Eternal bonds of love and tragedy surrounding the sea have been fulfilled and broken through generations of life. They haunt Ella Rowe, a reporter from Tampa, FL with secrets, lies, spirits, and memories of living in other times with similar fates. Ella’s fear makes her run from love—until the sea brings a man perfect for her—Navy fighter pilot Daniel Ellsworth. Facing life and death issues in a timeless odyssey of mystery and peril from Key West to Europe to Maine, the plot twists keep readers fascinated from the first chapter to the end. Will their destiny be fulfilled, or will tragedy be repeated as Ella and Daniel endure heartbreak to find love, and face death to find life?

Excerpt:

Daniel found himself on edge emotionally, waiting, watching, in a constant state of vigilance. It wore him down even as he embarked on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Daniel knew whatever waited for him, good or bad, would be life-changing.

And here he sat with this woman, relaxed and comfortable, and wondered, Is this it? Could this be what was coming at me? But he questioned his intuition: This meeting seems to be a good thing, though, nothing to be warned about. He lifted his glass to toast. “Here’s to knowing you, Ella, maybe for a long time, longer than just this night.” But a small doubt made him think twice about pursuing her, especially if karma was involved — karma he’d suspected caused him to die at sea many times before, karma he refused to obsess on or let control his life.

With his pilot training, he had great focus and willpower to cancel out all negative or intrusive thoughts, and his own karma was one of them, especially since revealing it had abruptly ended a relationship in his early twenties. He’d learned his lesson and wouldn’t make that mistake again. If a woman came along whom he felt strongly connected to and knew intuitively was meant for him and they fell in love, then karma wouldn’t deter him from pursuing her. Besides, the karma he recalled couldn’t be proved for sure, and it wasn’t anybody’s business but his own.

Ella tapped her glass gently against his. “I’d rather toast to the start of an interesting evening, probably just until midnight. That’s as much as I can commit to.”

Daniel’s gaze grew endearing as he spoke. “Okay, Cinder-Ella. At midnight, you go back to your BMW pumpkin and ride away, huh?” He took a long swallow of his drink and winked at her. “But I’ll be coming around with that glass slipper until I find you.”

Ella didn’t expect such an answer. He certainly had a quick wit and a creative comeback. “Really? Well, good luck with that, Prince Daniel. I’m no princess, and this is no fairy tale. This is an enjoyable conversation so far. Let’s leave it at that with no talk of stalking me with a glass shoe.” She sent him a coy smile while she sipped her drink, hoping he’d get the message that she appreciated his inventiveness, but he better not dare try to find her.

Ella and Daniel talked the night away. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d been so charmed by a man. She was usually too smart for that. This was refreshing and challenging, and he sure was easy on the eyes. At the very least, she was flattered by his attention. After all, he could obviously pick up any woman he wanted. She resolved to give it a go for the evening because under the good looks, the obvious intelligence, and unusual life, there was something about him that was captivating and familiar. The feel of him was like opening a seldom-used closet and finding a beautiful coat buried in the back, waiting for you to remember it was there, waiting to be wrapped around your body again to warm you and keep you safe.

They talked about their childhoods and worked up to the present, how they’d gotten through life and chosen the paths they had. Daniel Ellsworth was born in San Francisco, but starting at five, grew up moving around every few years all over the southeast, mostly to towns near the coast. His love of the ocean and traveling came from that experience. Living near a small airport and making friends with the owner and then working for him found him catching free rides, and so grew his love of flying; hence, his career combined both his passions as a Navy pilot.

Ella shared only the basics with him, the necessary information to piece together her history. She’d have to know him much better to share more than that. But she could envision being frank and honest with him because he was so genuine and open-minded, and so non-judgmental. Just not now, some other time, if there ever was another time with him.

If you could dress up as anything or anyone this Halloween, what or who would it be and why?

A witch — a good witch because they perform all kinds of mystical & magical things. Plus, I love the costume: the huge pointy hat, the black flowing clothing and tons of dark eye makeup including a wart on the nose! The idea of being able to cast spells (good ones) and cook up medicinal remedies is fascinating to me. Dipping into the future, foreseeing events and contacting spirits crossed over to help others is something I’d love to do.

Explain why your featured book is a treat to read:

Not only does the plot span hundreds of years’ time with past lives of the characters, the protagonist, Ella Rowe, uses mystical means to solve her life’s mysteries when nothing else works. There are spirits that connect with her, past life regressions, karma, psychics, a tarot reading, and a near-death experience. There is an old haunted house that holds secrets to Ella’s past leading to her current fears that affect her relationships. All of these elements, plus a magical love story, make Eternal Seas a perfect October, supernatural ‘Halloween’ treat to read!
