Title: Bloodcurse (BOOK 5 IN THE BLOODBORN SERIES)

Author: Sydney Winward

Genre: Vampire Romance, Paranormal Romance

Book Blurb:

To save her people, she needs his blood.

A deadly sickness has been picking off the dwarven race one by one, and now that they are on the brink of extinction, Kirsa Frey must take desperate action. Even if it means risking her life and those of her people by trapping a vampire to use his immortal blood.

Luca Dragomir is plagued with the loss of many loved ones—friends, family, and even the woman he cared for. Unable to stand the daily reminder of his grief, he gives up his birthright, wanting nothing to do with the vampires he called family. When he leaves the only life he’s ever known, he is cornered and captured by a beautiful dwarf and taken back to her settlement.

He soon realizes there might be another way to save her people. And he is the only person who can do it.

But time is running out, and if he doesn’t succeed, he is in danger of losing the one person he comes to love more than anything.

My Review:

Wow, this book kicks you in the teeth but you’ll be begging for more. Dwarves and vampires aren’t known for being mates. In this book, the author takes enemies to lovers paranormal romance to a whole new level.

The plot will grip you with its world-building, detailed narration, and action scenes. Its pace starts slow but it’s all good because the author takes time to fill in the backstory. Each scene is expertly described with tons of emotion. The tension is thick and very dramatic but that’s only part of the reason why I loved this book.

The characters, especially Kirsa and Luca, are what make Bloodcurse such a fab book. They might be a figment of the author’s imagination but once I started reading, it got personal real quick. Everything these characters went through, I went through. Every moment, every emotion, it all is perfectly described in this book. My heart broke for these characters over and over again.

The romance unfolds in a natural way and the trope is enemies to lovers with a twist. I loved the sparing, the flirting, the love Kirsa and Luca share. It’s dramatic, full of tension, and I loved every minute.

If you’re like me and love paranormal romance full of emotion, you’ll want to read this book. If vamps and dwarves are your jam, what are you waiting for? Oh, and it can read as a standalone.
