His Highland Passion by Gracie Guy is a Love and Romance Festival pick #romance #laterinlife #scotland #lovemonth #giveaway

Title: His Highland Passion

Author: Gracie Guy

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Later-in-Life Romance

Book Blurb:

Drew Cameron was tending to his well-organized and successful life in rural New York state when his irrepressible cousin, Geoff, calls in need of a favor because he has a broken leg. For years the two had been more like brothers than cousins before adult preferences caused them to drift apart. What is my family con artist up to now? In the name of family loyalty, Drew tempers his skepticism and agrees to accompany Geoff to Scotland to collect a sizable inheritance from their great uncle, Angus Stuart.

For Aila MacGregor, the passing of the legendary Angus is more than the loss of a client but the end of an era. Ninety-eight at his passing, the grizzled old highlander was known and loved by everyone for hundreds of miles. He had fed countless families by employing them on his massive estate, sponsored many a student who wanted to go to university in Edinburgh and had kept their cultural history alive by contributing to libraries, arts fairs, and athletic competitions. Aila had no idea how the town would fare without him. But what she did know is that having a philandering American nephew inherit the considerable wealth when he hadn’t bothered to check on his uncle in years was an insult to all the locals—and she intended to put a stop to it.

Why did I agree to this?

“So, do you think they’ll all sound like Sean Connery? Or maybe that macho guy in the time-travel series that all the women are swooning over?”  Laughter filled his right ear. “Wait. Wait, I got it. They’re gonna sound like the farmer from that pig movie that came out a while back. Babe! Right? That was the name, Babe?”

The booming commentary came from his cousin, Geoff. There are days when he is such an ignoramus. Before responding, Drew noticed the stares that he and Geoff were getting. At this point, Drew couldn’t decide if it was due to the stupid questions, or how Geoff had gotten increasingly loud and obnoxious with each pint of beer he consumed.

“You’re drunk.” He saw Geoff scoff at his statement.

“Well, when that plane is airborne, I want to sleep all the way to Bonnie, freakin’ Scotland.” Geoff roared for the benefit of their fellow passengers, shaking his left leg for effect, despite the apparent weight of the blue and white cast he wore.

Yup, he’s an ass. Drew shook his head in disbelief that he had agreed to accompany his irrepressible cousin to Scotland. It was bad enough he had given up the opportunity to produce more third cutting alfalfa, the buds of which translated to agricultural gold. It also appeared that he would have to endure many hours of drunken bloviating as well. Remember, it’s only a week.

“Attention ladies and gentlemen. This is first call for Trans European flight number sixty-three, ninety-one to Edinburgh, Scotland.”

“Alllriiight!” Geoff’s exuberant outburst and fist pump caused the flight attendant to cover the surface of the microphone in her hand and glare at him.

“In five minutes, we will begin boarding passengers who need assistance and families with children.” She held Geoff at bay with considerable stink-eye. “If you meet that description, please have your boarding passes out and ready.”

Drew looked to the ceiling.  Please let him pass out soon!

What’s your favorite part about being a romance author?

Two things standout - I love giving people their happily ever after and it makes my heart happy to have a reader tell me how much my writing brought them joy or helped them through a bad spot.

Here’s my tip to add romance to your love life:

If you’re out looking for love, toss away any of those ideas about a perfect mate, be open minded, and relax. A calm and confident person is very sexy. If you already have a mate but things need to perk up a bit, try the simple things: a small gift, holding hands on your own couch, a small bouquet of wildflowers, an unexpected hug and kiss.
