Then Elena bravely rushes in to save her father and Reno, and he makes the decision to make Elena his. Beauty and intelligence are enough, until he wants her heart too. Elena is a dutiful daughter of a retired soldier and although she knows her fate is to be married to a man of her family’s choosing, she never expected it to be Dante Viale. Excerpt

The crowds are starting to thin as Dave does his job guiding people out. I make it to the back of the club, through the alcove, and duck into the hallway, where Zano is fending off two attackers. Blood soaks his white shirt as I haul one man around and punch him hard in the gut.

The man stumbles, but comes back charging, knife in hand. I grab my gun from my holster and shoot. With a bullet to his head, he drops immediately. Zano has his opponent on the ground and whacks his head several times against the concrete, leaving him lifeless.

Meanwhile, Elena is calling for her brother.

“Zano, please. Let me out. Zano, are you all right? Answer me!” Elena’s becoming hysterical, but Zano has lost a lot of blood and is sagging against the wall and falling to the floor. I catch him and sit him down.

“Sebastian, I need the doc,” I yell out. I open the bathroom door, and Elena practically falls into my arms. Tears stream down her face. “It’s okay. You’re going to be fine,” I say gently. She’s calm for a moment, and then sees her brother. She tears out of my arms and drops next to him, pressing her hand over the wound to stop the bleeding.

“Flesh wound,” Zano tells her. It’s not, but I can see he’s trying to keep her calm.

“This is my fault. If I’d just stayed home,” she sobs.

“Stop, Elena. Dante’s going to take you home. Doc’s going to fix me up, and I’ll be right behind you,” Zano says with a labored breath, lifting a hand to her cheek.

“Sorry, man. We’re not leaving your side until we’re able to take you home with us,” I say.

It’s not long before Sebastian is leading the doctor our way. I give Sebastian a knowing look and he tells me, “Everything’s under control. Reno and Leo are taking the ones still breathing to the warehouse.”

The doctor kneels beside Zano to examine the wound, then glances up at us. “He’s one lucky kid. Didn’t hit a major organ.” He’s already inserted an IV into his arm and started a transfusion. “Help me get him to the van.”

Twenty minutes later, Zano is driving off with Elio by his side, and I have Elena by the hand, leading her to my car.

“I have to call Papa,” she whispers, glancing over her shoulder to watch the van speed away.

“Already on his way, baby.” I smooth a hand over her back and help her into the back seat, then take my place next to Sebastian. Her hands are covered with Zano’s blood. She lays them on her lap, staring at them.

When she eventually raises her eyes to me, her lower lip trembling, she chokes back a sob and says, “I only wanted to have one night without ties. Just one Saturday where I got to be me. And look what I’ve done.”

“This isn’t about you,” I assure her. She shakes her head, but I tell it to her like it is. “There are one of two ways to explain what happened tonight. Either the Red Dragons are trying to stake a claim on our territory and The Pearl was next on their list and you being present was merely a coincidence, or we have a traitor among us who knows that getting to you would trigger a war with Nostra Casa.”

“Me? Why me?” she asks, completely bewildered.

“Because you’ve been promised to a very important man, fragolina.”

She stares at me open-mouthed, but I turn around in my seat and let my words sink in.

Author Biography:

I was born in a small town in Italy. My parents are loving people; and true traditionalists. I grew up being a chatterbox of a child and evolved into a quiet and shy teenager. I was definitely not the life of the party. As a matter of fact, I never wanted to go to any high school dances or any activities the school offered. I was good with being alone. I had to grow into my own and I eventually became the fun loving, open-minded and creative person I am now. I love the ‘me’ I have become and I am grateful that this is where I have landed.

Writing is my release and I have escaped in my imagination to some incredible places meeting the most awesome characters. I also wanted to be a rock star but anyone who has ever heard me sing kindly convinced me that I do not have any talent. (In other words, I suck at it.) Although I have been writing since I was in grade school, and I am a hopeless romantic.

GUARD is the first book in a seven book series. In 2019, WAR (Book 2 in the series) will be launched. Each book introduces characters who you will learn about in the next series. Why I write romance? I thrive on two individuals connecting in mind, body and soul. The understanding of wants and needs and placing them as a priority and not out of fear of losing them or because you feel you need to concede; you do it because it feels easy and right in your own heart. My other passion is cooking! I enjoy making meals for my family and friends and bantering around the table. I have colourful people in my life and they all add to my rainbow. I love music! I like it all, depending on my mood. And lastly, I love to travel. I want to enjoy all that life has to offer. I want to meet people, learn from them and create the most fantastic, sexy love stories. If I can do this overlooking the ocean and feeling the breeze wash over me then I have my heaven on earth. Stay tuned for more novels in the Satan’s Pride motorcycle club and Dark Reign mafia romance series coming soon!
