The rebels are losing the intergalactic war.


They need a prototype of the Deg’Nara’s latest weapon, a planet-killer, to survive. A covert operations team is tasked with finding and retrieving the weapon. Their mission is proceeding as planned when it goes horribly wrong. Ashyr, a space pirate, swoops in and literally tears the weapon from the team’s hands.


Cam can’t let that happen. Impetuous, reckless, and determined to retrieve it at all costs, she throws herself onto Ashyr’s ship and the battle begins.


Excerpt:


The massive Yudjojana bore down on the modified Stingers, all pulse cannons blazing. Ashyr drew a steadying breath as his bladder clenched. The colossal size of the battleship and the formidable armament was enough to make him wish he hadn’t had that last full cup of jaga before they departed from the rebel sanctuary.


“Holy Gods of the void,” Thrall muttered from behind. “We’re dead!”


There was no way the modified Stingers could withstand an assault by the monstrous war machine. The Stingers were made for speed and lightning strikes. Not this!


“Scatter!” Ashyr yelled into the com system. “Get out of range!”


Within parsecs, the modifieds blipped out of sight. He waited until the last one vanished before he initiated the jump, and none too soon as the modified Stinger lurched, grazed by a pulse beam from the massive battleship’s long-range artillery.


The universe exploded in a prismatic array of iridescent color as the modified entered hyperspace. He was thrown against his seat and pinned there as the ship accelerated.


“My aching balls,” Thrall gasped. “It’s so tight back here, I can’t catch my breath.”


He sympathized with Thrall’s discomfort. The Deg’Nara didn’t build ships with the comfort of their pilots in mind and his cramped position in the pilot’s seat wasn’t much better than Thrall’s. The limited space felt as though it were shrinking, growing smaller as the modified tore through the subspace dimension.


The kaleidoscope of colors intensified, mushrooming as the craft burst from hyperspace and then decelerated.

Requiem is a story about finding a new life, meeting the challenges and becoming the person Cam wants to be. She is a human, abducted by a dying race as a star bride, but instead becomes a soldier with the rebels in the war against the predatory Deg’Nara in a galaxy far away. She is determined, strong-minded and when Ashyr, the leader of a band of space pirates, takes off with her prize, she goes after him. Requiem is about surviving no matter the odds.
