Return to Evergreen by Award-Winning Author Wendy Altshuler @SirTwoSays Reminds Me of Early #HarryPo

Title: Return to Evergreen (Evergreen Series Book 2)

Author: Wendy Altshuler

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Book Blurb:

From Award Winning Author Wendy Altshuler comes Book II in the Evergreen Series:

When Christopher became lost in a wood one day, he would never have dreamed that he would meet a walking, talking, awakened tree. Where did the tree come from? What was he doing wandering in the wood?

Christopher would come to learn the answers to these, and many more questions, when he ventures with the tree through a magical, secret portal. In fact, there are many interdimensional lands connected by the secret doors, and in Book II, Christopher and his friend Tom return to find out that some of the lands are strange—and not very friendly. The elves of Evergreen have been kidnapped through a magic door into a land of no sound, and in setting off to rescue them they discover a place more dangerous than they had imagined. Will music help them in their rescue?

From a review of the series: "Return To Evergreen is a fantasy novel meant for young adults but appealing to readers and fantasy fans of all ages, following the adventures of a young boy, his close friend, and the bond he shares with a tree come to life. Second in a four-part series, Return To Evergreen is a tale of courage, a quest to restore goodness and free kidnapped elves in the Land of Silence... An emotionally moving, uplifting, and wholesome fable." -Midwest Book Review

My Review:

In the second part of this superb series, the reader journeys back to Evergreen with Christopher and his up til the air door skeptic friend Tom. The adventures of Christopher, Tom and their tree friends are another fun time for the reader! The introduction of the character Georgeonus is key in this series. The mystery that surrounds this sympathetic, yet heroic figure, makes the reader hunger for the next chapter in this story. The captivating author's work reminds me of the early books in the Harry Potter series. Fans of Wizard Harry will enjoy this book!

If there is one caveat here, it is that the scenes in the Land of Silence were a touch hard to follow. If I, as a reader, had a hard time keeping track of what was going on, I am sure that younger readers might have the same challenge.

Still it is a superb book and a great addition to this wonderful series and now book three is eagerly anticipated.

My Rating: 4.5 stars
