Grief and Father's Day: Learning to Live With the Loss of a Loved One #inspiration #MondayMotiva

Grief is like an ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim. – Vicki Harrison

Grief is an emotion no one talks about. It's a solitary state of being and one that when confronted, most avoid it.

We've all lost a loved one. For me, the list is long and it starts with my dad.

Every day, I think about him and grieve his loss. He was taken far too young and I never got the chance to chance to tell him I loved him before he died. Every Father's Day is just a grim reminder he's gone.

Many of my friends and family try to tell me to "get over it" but the truth is you don't get over grief.

Grief is like an ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.

I find comfort and inspiration in this quote. There are days when my grief is so strong, all I can do is let it wash over me. My grief is a part of me and a strong motivational tidal wave to live every moment like it's my last.

If you are grieving, I'm with you. If you are wondering what life is all about, I suggest you do some soul-searching. Life starts and ends with you. Take nothing for granted and tell people how much you love them.
