"Get busy living or get busy dying." - The Shawshank Redemption

I watched one of my favorite movies with MR N over the weekend, The Shawshank Redemption. One of my favorite scenes is between Andy and Red. Andy is standing in the middle of a crossroads mentally and he says the above quote.

Every time I hear this quote, it's like a blow to my body. It makes all my senses stand up and take notice.

Am I living proactively or am I on the way to dying?

Fifteen years ago, I was at a crossroads. I was in America and getting ready to move over 3000 miles away to marry MR N. My family kept trying to convince me to stay and make MR N move to America. They drilled into me all the mistakes I made in previous relationships and what made me think this was any different.

The truth was I was in need of a new life, new surroundings, a new start. I was miserable, a dark secret I kept from my family. Sitting in the middle of a crossroad, I had a choice: get busy living or get busy dying.

I chose life.
