Without new experiences, something inside us sleeps. The sleeper must awaken. – Frank Hebert
I had a dream last night where I was Alice and I was standing over the rabbit hole, peering down into the darkness with unease. I knew it was the entrance to Wonderland and all I had to do was jump. I looked to my right and the white rabbit was tapping his foot impatiently.
"You're taking too long. We're going to be late and it's all your fault." With a huff, he jumped feet first down the rabbit hole.
My heart began to pound and I squinted down the hole trying to see through it. Dirt and roots were all I saw. I can do this, I thought. This is what I have always wanted to do.
I closed my eyes, crossed my arms over my chest and jumped.
Life is full of new adventures and I'm about to experience a big one! It's something I've never done before and while it is exciting, it's also scary. I ran across this quote this morning and it gave me the courage I need.
What do you do when faced with a new experience? Do you run and hide or do you run unabandoned towards it?
I used to be a run and hide kind of person but I want to be more like a running towards it person. New adventures make life interesting and I love to learn new things. I'm going to embrace my inner Alice and jump feet first down the rabbit hole.
