Title: Adam's Heartbreak (Winning His Devotion Book 7)

Author: Nancy Fraser

Genre: Historical Christian Western Romance

Book Blurb:

Adam Miller is a haunted man. He holds himself responsible for the death of a half dozen men working on the railroad line he designed. Following the accident, he lost both his job and the woman he planned to marry. Rather than look for another job as an engineer, he turns to ranching.

Milly Parker arrives in Perces at the request of her maternal grandfather. Will returning to the small town where she lost her parents bring back the worst of her memories? And what do she and the handsome rancher have in common?

Despite both their best intentions, they seem to be drawn to one another. Could fate reveal an unknown truth, and faith give them both a chance at happiness?

My Review:

Having lost his faith while carrying the heavy burden of guilt, can Adam’s heartbreak be healed through the love shining in Milly’s eyes? Adam’s Heartbreak is a heartwarming story of returning home, redemption, finding love when you least expect it, and doing what you’re passionate about. The setting and narration sweep the reader to another era. The characters are wonderfully written. The romance is slow burn and genuine. What makes Adam’s Heartbreak such an endearing story are Adam and Milly.

Let’s start with the characters. Adam is a man wracked with guilt. He believes his actions caused the death of six men. To escape the torment, he escapes to a small frontier town and tries his hand at ranching. Adam is a well-written tormented hero. He’s a good man who wants to be left alone. But when love enters the picture, he’s conflicted. He’s got a huge heart, and I adored him from the first page.

Milly is a smart woman who has a degree and a career. She has plans and intents to see them come to fruition. She’s not interested in marriage, at least not right now. She’s come home to visit her grandparents. But like Adam, she’s caught off-guard by love. I connected with Milly immediately. She brings such light into Adam’s life.

The rest of the characters are lively and add something special to this story. I thoroughly enjoyed the community feel these characters bring.

The romance is slow burn with a gradual falling in love. Emotions are high and fuel the love budding between Adam and Milly.

True to Nancy Fraser’s style, the writing draws the reader into the story. The historical accuracy is flawless. I read late into the night because I had to see what happened next. A brilliant romance with all the feels.

My Rating: 5+ stars
