Genre: Contemporary Steamy Romance

Book Blurb:

He needs to ditch the attitude he has about her. She needs to get over her inconvenient attraction to him.

Successful Chicago real estate developer Spencer D’Angelo will do anything for his family. Well, almost anything. Things just don’t add up. Harper’s trouble with a capital T, even if the rest of his family doesn’t see it, and adores her.

A California native, Harper unexpectedly finds herself jobless and homeless after the Feds raid the real estate firm she’s been working for. When her bestie’s brother, Spencer, the sexy, arrogant Italian who’s starred in way too many of her late night fantasies, begrudgingly offers her a place to stay in Chicago, she jumps at the chance to escape the chaos and darkness that have overtaken her life.

Harper and Spencer have traded insults and barbs from a distance for years, but now they can’t avoid each other. As their scorching chemistry ignites, Spencer becomes protective of her and Harper discovers there’s more to Spencer than his polished, business persona.

How can they continue on as the rivals they’ve always been?

What will happen when Harper’s secrets finally catch up with her?

Trigger warning for mentions of alleged child sexual assault, mentions of suicide and attempted sexual assault on-page.

My Review:

The man Harper’s been sparring with all these years is the same man who ignites passion in her soul but when he discovers her dark secret, will he leave her in disgrace? Harper’s learned to be wary of people she lets in, especially when it comes to love. When the Feds shut down the real estate office she works in, she turns to the only family she can trust. Her best friend insists she move to Chicago and start fresh. Harper agrees but isn’t convinced it’s a good idea. She and her bestie’s brother, Spencer, have butted heads over the years but that hasn’t stopped her attraction to him. What happens when they’re in the same city, same neighborhood, same home? The chemistry between her and Spence threatens to overtake reason, but Harper can’t deny her attraction anymore. As they explore their newly formed relationship, Harper’s past threatens everything she holds dear. Sharing her dark secret with Spence freaks her out because it would crush her soul if he didn’t believe her. Love is risky but for Harper, she can’t resist when Spence asks her nicely.

Ask Me Nicely is a sizzling frenemy to lovers romance with a twist I read in one sitting. Seriously, once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. In a mash-up of tropes, Dania Voss takes the reader on a scorching ride of passion, confined living quarters, and shadowy enigmas. I connected with Harper right away and my heart continued to go out to her time and again. She’s been through a lot of strife throughout her life, including assault, suicide, and more. Spencer is the typical Alpha male, and his protective nature is exactly what Harper needs. The sexual tension between these two had me ripping through the pages to see what would happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey together. The supporting cast, especially Spencer’s mum, added depth, humor, and perspective to the plot. The plot itself moves at a terrific pace with plenty of steamy heat. The suspense of Harper’s past adds intrigue and just the right number of gasping moments. Dania Voss is a masterful writer when it comes to steamy romance. She creates unputdownable characters who deal with all that life throws at them. Please note there are quite a bit of sexy times in this story. I personally loved each sexy time due to the brilliant descriptive narration. There are triggers warnings in the blurb so please be aware if you are sensitive to those triggers. If you’re a romance reader, you’ll want to read Ask Me Nicely. If steamy romance is your reading jam, you’ll adore Ask Me Nicely. One of the best steamy romances I’ve read in a long time, Ask Me Nicely needs to be read by the masses. Highly recommend!
