The long-awaited day has arrived!

Yes, it’s been some time coming, what with all the trials and tribulations they’ve had to overcome. But at last, the day of the wedding is here, and Jacob and Astrid are finally going to tie the knot and settle down. . .Or are they?

You see, that’s the thing about Kansas. It’s a vast and majestic country, filled with natural wonders and delights to satisfy the soul and take the breath away. Yet it’s also filled with dangers enough to catch the unwary and send them to an early grave.

And when one of those dangers insists on poking its nose into the Pearl brothers’ affairs, now, of all times?

Well, it’s time for someone to step up and answer the call of duty.

My Review:

One of the most realistic and well written old west fiction series has come to an end.  The continuity of this work has been excellent. Readers of every book will be struck by the similarities between the start of this book and book one. The only difference here is Astrid is well armed while her pa wasn't.

The now familiar multi storyline approach continues. This is the book of revenge.  Old traditions or old codgers...both seem to carry the same fire for vengeance.

The character development is strong in this final book. The reader is taken to places they did not expect. There are so many new characters...different native tribes and warriors...the old man with a grudge. You get to know them all.

The culmination of the growth of Jacob and Astrid's relationship is worth reading this book.  Fans of this great series will rush to get their hands on this work. A pretty worthwhile conclusion to quite a story. The old west of Zane Grey has been brought back to life in a wonderful new style. This has been one of the most historically accurate and realistic old west fiction to have been written this century. A splendid ending to a great series.

My Rating: 5 stars

Author Biography:

Born in the UK, Andrew Weston was captivated by the great western shows of the 1950s and 60s, where the likes of Wagon Train, Rawhide, Gunsmoke, The Lone Ranger, Bonanza, and the High Chaparral were regular fare on TV.

Having served around the world in both the military and law enforcement for well over three decades, Weston now lives in the Aegean Greek Islands with his wonderful wife of 24 years. It is from there that he continues his quest to write the perfect story, and discover a film to rival, “Once Upon a Time in the West.”
