Haiku Rose by Colleen McManus Hein is a Beach Reads pick #womensfiction #beachread #giveaway

Title: Haiku Rose

Author: Colleen McManus Hein

Genre: Women’s Friendship Fiction

Book Blurb:

Poor Rose has been compelled her whole life to write and illustrate haikus that no one sees or reads. After two devastating losses leave her reeling, however, Rose returns to her wealthy hometown, a place she vowed she’d never live in again. When an old childhood friend offers her a fresh start and encourages her to post her poems on Instagram, Rose feels herself coming back to life. Can social media help heal Rose’s psychic wounds? Can Instagram bring beauty, meaning, and possibly romance back into her life? Find out in this gently lyrical story about friendship, love, and the importance of art.

My Instagram page is getting more likes and comments every time I add a new haiku, and more people and poets are following me. I hate to admit this, but my account is giving me some joy at a time when I don’t feel too good about my life. I can’t wait to sit down with my colored pencils at the end of the day and illustrate my little poems. I’m composing all the time in my head. If I’m in the shower or doing something and can’t stop to jot down words, I try to memorize them until I can get to my notebook. My fingers flutter as I count syllables: five, seven, five.

Four hundred sixty

miles to home; syllables form

poems on my windshield.
