My Review:


Between Avalon and Earth, Petra will defy odds to make a difference. Petra never saw it coming. She’s been chosen to anoint the guide for the next merlin. In exchange, the magical herolds gift her the ability to read. No magical powers to speak of but Petra perseveres. Insecurities abound for poor Petra. Could she fulfill her duty? The more strife she went through, the stronger her resolve. The prophecy is at hand, but will Petra survive long enough to choose the guide or will those trying to stop the prophecy succeed?


Healer’s Awakening is an original fantasy filled with mystical lands, prophecies, a chosen young woman, war, and a full cast of characters. The plot moves at an even pace with a unique storyline. It took me a while to understand what was going on but once I got the gist, it flowed. The world-building is unlike anything I’ve read which is impressive considering it’s a fantasy book. Petra is a brave, gutsy heroine. If you enjoy immersive fantasy, you’ll want to read Healer’s Awakening. A good start to a fantasy series, Healer’s Awakening will appeal to the masses.

Author Biography:


By day David Hochhalter is an optical engineer who has designed some of the longest terrestrial systems in the world. Since he was given the 2:00am middle of the night idea brain instead of the 9:00am brain, he decided to try writing instead of reading technical manuals. Besides, imaging stories is more fun than reading about amplifiers. His published books are Wandmaking 101, Wandmaking 201, and the Healer’s series starting with Healer’s Awakening. Currently, he is working on another series in the same universe.
