Title: Home in Wylder

Author: Jane Lewis

Genre: Historical Western Romance

Book Blurb:

To escape gossip about her disastrous engagement, Sarah Miller flees to Wylder, Wyoming where her aunt owns a dress shop. But the danger she discovers in the wild west has her ready to board the next stagecoach out of town.

Daniel Taylor rescues a damsel in distress only to fall in love with her at first sight. The past has taught him that gentle women don't make Wylder their home. He intends to court Sarah, but braces himself for a broken heart, knowing she will eventually leave town.

When Sarah is forced to face down the men who have tormented her since her arrival in Wylder, she will have to make the most difficult decision of her life.

My Review:

What had she been thinking? All Sarah Miller wants to do is escape the gossip hounds in her hometown after her engagements went terribly wrong. So, she packs a bag and heads west to Wylder, Wyoming to stay with her aunt. She hasn’t been in Wylder long before she’s attacked by two ruffians. If it hadn’t been for handsome Daniel Taylor… she shutters to think what might have happened. This is the wild west and Sarah is petrified. When Daniel starts courting her, her heart is conflicted. Should she go home and leave Wylder, or should she follow her heart which whispers she’s home in Wylder?

Home in Wylder is such a fantastic historical western romance. Sarah is a refined gentle lady who is out of her element in Wylder. She digs deep down to find her resolve and winds up finding love and a place to belong. Daniel is a classic western gentleman who’s taken with Sarah right away. They are so sweet together and it was very enjoyable to watch their love bloom, like a desert rose. The ‘bad element’ in Wylder adds danger and conflict for both Sarah and Daniel. The plot moves at a great pace, blending action, romance, and harsh realities of the time period. The historical accuracy is spot on, but then that’s not a surprise coming from Jane Lewis. She does an incredible amount of research and it shows in her writing. The vibrant characters surrounding Sarah and Daniel add depth to the story plus a bit of humor, too. Sarah’s aunt is quite a contrast to Sarah. If you love western romance, you’ll thoroughly enjoy Home in Wylder. Highly recommend!
