Author Spotlight | Meet Jeremy Robertson and his dark fantasy series #darkfantasy #fantasy #bookish

Hi! I’m author, Jeremy Robertson. I grew up in a small Texas town. I enjoy reading and writing. Hanging out with family and friends. My genre is young adult dark fantasy. But I like to write other genres as well. And I even have fun mixing genres in my writing, as well. I like to come up with clever and original titles and stories for my writing. I also write novellas, more than long novels. It helps me to defeat writer’s block. Plus, it’s fun! When I’m not reading or writing, I work part-time at my local Texas grocery store. I enjoy meeting new people. And telling them about the success of my writing. Plus, the extra weekly paycheck helps me out a lot, too! When I’m not making many royalties on my books I’ve got published so far!

Title: Dark Tales from Dreamdale - #1

Author: Jeremy Robertson

Genre: Dark fantasy

Book Blurb:

a scary nightmare creature escapes its underworld prison, a brave boy, Arden Wonder, must slay the quirky dream monster Count Comatose before the villain has an opportunity to feed on the dreams and nightmares of young souls that will allow Count Comatose to unleash a nightmarish apocalypse that will corrupt reality. Every dreaming child will turn into fantasy creatures and be the monster's slaves in its lair--forever.

Excerpt:

“You’ve got to do something, Arden!” demanded Mrs. Wonder, with tears streaming down her face. “They bombarded us with no warning, during the middle of the night! They’re taking all the children to the Nether Nod! And sending us parents to get evacuated and feed to the scary old swamp friend, Pixie the Pixie!” Mrs. Wonder explained, trying to keep safe and unharmed from the Nether demon that was maltreating her and her husband out of their house.

Arden watched in horror as the scary creatures took the innocent kids out of the village houses and placed them into the alien spacecraft. One child per capsule. They lined the alien spaceship up in front of the village houses as the dream guards grabbed every kid that was in their rooms and forced them into the inferior alien spacecraft.

“We’ve got to stop them!” screamed Arden, trying to tackle the Nether guard, holding his mom and dad captive. “They can’t-do this to us. Dad, where are the two missing magical Power-Ups, lost here in Dreamdale?” Arden asked his father, trying to stall the Nether guard from holding his parents against their will. “I need them to defeat Count Comatose,” he said.

Excerpt:

Mr. Morpheus stumbled out of the glowing green door and bumped into his boss from behind. Count Comatose growled and slapped him on the side of the face for being such a disturbance before addressing the boys. “Per my resources, you two are trying to plot against me.” Count Comatose growled, showing his long, pointed fangs that drooled. The vampire glanced from one boy to the other with glowing red stink eyes. “Happy, I know of your condition. Forget about the dumb bully helping you! Only the power of my Dark Heart can make you happy. Let me deal with Bartholomew and join me in my castle! I can give you a permanent Nether Gifted Soul in my house at the Nether Nod.” Count Comatose granted him a toothy smile.

Happy glanced skeptically at Count Comatose. “How can you make this happen? Why would I join you if Bartholomew can make us a powerful dream team? Though I chose to be a Nether Gifted Soul, Bartholomew says he can make me a Dream God from the Nether Nod forever. I don’t want to serve you, Count Comatose. I don’t want to worship any fantasy gods of any kind except for the Shape-shifters. I am a Nether Gifted Soul. I can’t always be a Shape-shifter because the magic wears off. But with Bartholomew here to make me feel complete, I don’t want anything to do with you or your offerings,” Happy answered, narrowing his eyes at the vampire.

Title: Dark Tales from Dreamdale #3 You Can’t Scare Mare!

Author: Jeremy Robertson

Genre: Dark fantasy

Book Blurb:

Arden Wonder released his best friend, Happy Buckets, into the wild with the other Nether Shape-shifters. Now Arden discovers a new threat invading his worst nightmares. It won’t be easy scaring Mare the dream demon, because he is fearless. Arden wants to discover the monster’s weakness before it attacks him and everybody he loves. But getting to know the dream monster is going to be very dangerous. Arden, his brother, and best friends must prepare for a rude awakening. Arden must be careful when dealing with such a pest. Because if Arden doesn’t watch out, Mare will finish him and his brother and friends off, so fast, they won’t know how to defend themselves!

Excerpt:

“This is part of the test,” Amourex explained to Arden. “You’re going through a strange change now. Let the potion get in your system. We’ll be rooting for you,” Amourex declared. But it didn’t sound promising to Arden as much worse as he felt.

“It’s giving me a headache!” Arden complained. Arden opened his eyes finally and screamed. Arden’s parents hugged each other and jumped with fright. They knew he woke up in the Nether Nod as a Nether Gifted Soul!

Amourex kissed his wife on the forehead. “He’s a strong kid, Xanadu. He can save us and rescue Tantom. I hope the magic potion I made won’t keep him in his monster phase forever. He’ll make his time limit before sunrise. I have faith in our son,” Amourex said with confidence.

Arden didn’t realize he was a dream monster until he saw his reflection in a puddle of brown muddle water near the swamp. Arden’s instincts told him to run and hide. He thought a predator in Spooky Swamp was stalking his presence and ready to pounce! Starring jointly in the muddy grave, Arden had morphed into a Nether Gifted Soul again! Why would his dad make him this way back? It didn’t make sense. Maybe his dad knew the only way to fight a dream monster was to understand what it feels like to be a monster. Everything about being a Nether Gifted Soul again made Arden feel powerful, not the pathetic kid he used to be.
