Title: Key to Heart and Soul

Author: Judy Kentrus

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Book Blurb:

Ginger Hennypenny takes delight in running her music shop, Key to Heart and Soul, and overseeing her piano rescue foundation. Events in her past have forced her to keep a low “key” but her life is shaken when they’re revealed. To further complicate her life, she’s given a unique key with a tricky riddle on her birthday from Margie, her eccentric grandmother. Supposedly it will lead to some kind of treasure. She has two months to solve the riddle before her next sister’s birthday.

Neil Dorsey’s best friend is Ginger Hennypenny. He plays a big part in helping with the organization that secures pianos for non-profit organizations. When he goes with Ginny to pick up a valuable Steinway, they’re thrown into a nightmare from her past that will shake up their lives and those they love.

My Review:

It’s Ginger’s birthday next and her ‘key’ will take her back to the roaring twenties and thirties where she’ll have to use all her skills to solve the mystery. I lost sleep over Key to Heart and Soul and it was totally worth it. The characters leapt off the page and into my heart, especially Ginger and Neil. The multiple storylines are addictive, yet they come together in epic fashion at the end. The world-building is complex yet so satisfying to read. The romance is longtime friends to lovers. Trust me, if you love dramatic romantic suspense, you won’t want to miss this tale.

Let’s start with the descriptive narration. Judy Kentrus is an artist with her palette when it comes to writing stories. She paints each scene with clarity, vibrancy, and detail. The narration is immersive and emotional. The historical tidbits were true to the era and gripping.

The characters are what make this book come alive. With the various plotlines, there are a lot of characters to keep track of. Yet, I had no trouble following the story. Ginger deals with a lot of adversity in this novel. My heart went out to her so many times. The same is true of Neil. The roller coaster of emotions he rides is both heartbreaking and sweeping.

I thoroughly enjoyed Key to Heart and Soul. It’s an emotional read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

My Rating: 5+ stars
