Do you listen to audiobooks? Do you have a favorite? If you don’t listen to audiobooks, is there a particular reason why not?

I’d listened to only a few audiobooks before producing my own. I did like Jaycee Dugard’s narration of her memoir A Stolen Life. It was chilling to hear her matter-of-factly describe her life in captivity in her own voice. I read an article that explained why print books are the most efficient format for learning and remembering what you’ve read, but for me it’s just a matter of personal preference. I like physical books, preferably hard cover. I like to be read to when I wash the dishes, though, and sometimes an audiobook fills that need.

What makes this a must-listen audiobook?

Catherine Hein Carter has a warm, engaging voice and particularly excels at romantic and emotional scenes, so she was perfect for this romantic suspense title. Audiobook Reviewer called it “a delightful blend of humor, suspense, and culinary charm” and added that “Catherine Hein Carter delivers a well-timed, flawless narration...Ms. Carter voice-acting skills align perfectly with this romance suspense and mystery that is nearly impossible not to finish in a single session.”

Author Biography:

I knew I wanted to be a “book maker” as soon as I learned to read and wrote my first story at the age of six. My passion for the printed word also led me to a career with the San Diego Public Library. I retired to spend more time on my writing and have had stories published in numerous literary journals. I have had ten books published by The Wild Rose Press and seven of them produced as audio books so far. In addition to the three R’s—reading, writing, and research—I enjoy travel, movies, Scrabble, and visiting museums and art galleries.

Narrator Biography:

Catherine Hein Carter lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband and daughter and a dog named Gage. She has always loved theater and was active in school plays and community theater, but her career took her in a different direction. She worked with children and childcare organizations for thirty years. At forty, she decided to explore her creative side and became an avid crochet artisan and an audiobook producer. She has over twenty years of vocal experience.
