My Review:

 

Lovers and Lace by Dania Voss is a steamy introduction to the Delcinia Diaries Romance Series. Delcinia is a lingerie company, and the main characters are their business executives, models, and designers. Entering the high fashion world for a two-hour, short-read escape was exciting. As an Ohio native, I loved the references to Olivia’s parent’s ice cream empire and the lingerie company which grew out of the area. It’s art imitating life, and I recognized the real-life counterparts to many of Olivia’s hometown landmarks—a real treat. Voss’s flawless research makes for a delightful experience for the reader.

 

In this installment, our main character, Olivia, is discovered in an ad for her parents’ dairy farm and whisked to New York to join the fashion world. She reminded me of Christina Aguilera’s character in the 2010 movie Burlesque. I loved following her journey from a naïve pretty face to an accomplished businesswoman. The only bump in her road to fame is Sergio, the swoon-worthy fashion executive who sweeps her off her feet on day one in the Big Apple. I loved how his character grew in complexity as his story unfolded and how he fit Olivia’s needs perfectly. (Sorry, no spoilers here.)

 

Overall, I highly recommend this bite-sized, spicy romance to fashionistas, hopeless romantics, and those who wish to step into a high fashion model’s shoes for a strut down the catwalk.
