My Review:


Aurora Turner counts the days of her capture and torture by the Sluagh. When she first lays eyes on James, she thinks he’s her rescuer. Umm, not really, thanks to some spells left by the Sluagh. While they’re both captive and waiting to be freed, they get to know one another. When the calvary arrives, she meets Nate, a snow leopard shifter. She’s drawn to both men, but for different reasons. All she wants to do is get on a plane and get away from the Sluagh, in case they come back for her. But she can’t yet, thanks to her injury. A nice surprise is the more she’s around the townsfolk of Strawberry, the more she feels like she belongs. As James and Nate confess their love for her (stupid sniff test), which one will she choose? Her decision, once made, will shock everyone… or will it?


Round of Applause is a surprising paranormal romance. After reading Bear With Me (book 1), I was familiar with many of the characters. So, color me shocked when the plot and characters wove a spell over me. Aurora is a prickly character to get to know but once you peel back the layers, she’s a woman after my own heart. Strong heroines who go after what they want are my favorites and Aurora is that and more. There’s plenty of conflict here, but also romance, action, magic, and intrigue. Round of Applause is brilliantly written with a flair I can’t quite put my finger on. Equal parts Kelly Armstrong and May Sage, Marilyn Barr is a gifted shifter romance writer. Her characters leap from the page. The plot moves at a good pace. The ending…oh my goodness…simply melted my heart. I didn’t want to leave Aurora, James, and Nate, plus all the other characters. If you’re looking for a paranormal romance you won’t be able to put down, read Round of Applause. I can’t wait to read the next installment. Highly recommend!

Author Biography:


Marilyn Barr currently resides in the wilds of Kentucky with her husband, son, and rescue cats. She has a diverse background containing experiences as a child prodigy turned medical school reject, published microbiologist, special education/inclusion science teacher, homeschool mother of a savant, certified spiritual & energy healer, and advocate for the autistic community. This puts her in the position to bring tales containing heroes who are regular people with different ability levels and body types, in a light where they are powerful, lovable, and appreciated.


When engaging with the real world, she is collecting characters, empty coffee cups, and unused homeschool curricula. She is a sucker (haha) for cheesy horror movies, Italian food, punk music, black cats, bad puns, and all things witchy.
