Able to escape all manner of bindings since she was a little girl, Della smiled sweetly when the Sheriff walked in and paused to frown over the sight of iron cuffs and chains piled on the floor. She still sat in the chair, but reclined with feet propped on the bunk in her cell. She, however, missed the chance to revel in his shock because she was too busy glaring at the unconscious man dangling between the deputy and the Sheriff.

 

In mere seconds she knew that she’d never laid eyes on a more perfect man. His thick black hair brushed his jacket collar, curling slightly at the ends. His strong-lined jaw held more than a day’s worth of whiskers telling her he’d been on the trail and had no time for a trim and shave. But in her opinion his overabundance of hair just made him more appealing. Most men just looked like a pissed off grizzly bear with that much hair on their head and face.

 

He was dressed in head-to-toe black and the unbuttoned neckline of his shirt allowed a peek of finely tuned muscles with only a light dusting of ebony hair across his chest. His appearance reminded her of the rumors folks told about the Shade Outlaw.
