My Review:


A vampire who gives second chances to lovers through vampirism but won’t give herself the same gift. Syrena (or Syre to her vampire offspring) used to be the last of her kind but procreated vampires around the world for several centuries. One man holds her heart and her secret, yet she refuses to change him. Ethan is her sunshine, her connection to humanity, and her ultimate weakness. She denies herself to even contemplate love, for she’s lost so many loved ones over the centuries. She and Ethan share a physical relationship, but she cannot afford to utter the ‘L’ word. Her senses perk up as the dragon hunters are known as the Reshad has returned and they are stalking her. Terrible visions of Ethan’s death haunt her but she must be vigilant. She pushes Ethan away as she hunts those that are hunting her, but he doesn’t budge. Can she eliminate the Reshad while protecting Ethan? When will she realize Ethan is her true mate, when it’s too late?


Syre is a vampire romance I read in one sitting. From the beginning, Syre drew me in with its emotional narration and character development. I connected with Ethan and Syrena right away. Each of the main characters deals with emotional trauma in their own way. As a master vampire of so many, Syrena bears the brunt of emotions behind a wall of indifference. The wonderful thing about Ethan is he knows what burdens she carries and helps her when no one else can. The intimacy between these two is what makes this an unputdownable paranormal romance. The plot moves at a perfect pace with remarkable world-building, especially in the action scenes. Hands down, this is the best book in the series. Kyann Waters has an astonishing talent for writing paranormal romance and I look forward to reading more from her. Highly recommend!
