Title: The Wizard of her Heart (Jelly Beans and Spring Things)

Author: Terry Newman

Genre: Paranormal Rom Com, Paranormal Romantic Comedy

Book Blurb:

Sydney Thomas doesn’t believe in romantic love. She moved to Zen, Ohio with her young daughter following a dismal marriage and disastrous divorce. Her new boss says he’s a wizard who helps people fall in love by casting spells over jelly beans. The last thing she needs is to get entangled in a relationship. Why can’t she stop thinking about him?

Wyatt Ginn is spellbound by the woman he met at the post office when he rear-ends her car. Not a great first impression. When he discovers she’s the social media director hired for his publishing company, the second and third impressions aren’t much better. And she doesn’t believe in magic. So why is he attracted to her?

There’s no way they can live happily ever after. Is there?

My Review:

What happens when a woman who scoffs at the idea of magic falls for her boss who happens to be a wizard? A hilarious romantic romp, that’s what. Terry Newman has a knack for writing rom coms that are magical in nature yet so much fun to read. The Wizard of her Heart is wonderfully entertaining featuring delightful characters, fast dialogue, magic sprinkled throughout, and of course, romance.

Sydney is a serious, no-nonsense divorced single mom who just moved to a small town. She landed her dream job and it’s a fresh start for her and her young daughter. She keeps running into her boss, Wyatt, though and wonders if the universe is punishing her. The more she’s around him, the stronger the reaction. He thinks he’s a wizard, or so she surmises. Yet, why can’t she stop thinking about him? Great premise, eh?

The characters are my favorite reason why I love this book. I connected with Sydney and Wyatt, but for different reasons. Sydney has a hard shell but is a softie on the inside. Wyatt is a cinnamon roll hero who’s like Cupid, only sexier. Neither can resist the other and love soon finds a way.

The romance itself is pure pleasure. I found the banter to be exquisite with classic one-liners. The attraction is insta but it’s a slow process to get to the falling in love stage. The romantic tension is perfectly paced. It’s a full build-up to the romantic ending but worth every moment.

If you’re looking for a fun paranormal rom com that will leave you smiling, pick up The Wizard of her Heart. Highly recommended!
