My Review:


I live for Bagel Friday. As a hard-working nanny for helicopter social-climbing parents in the heart of Manhattan, Bagel Friday is what gets me through the week. One chance meeting with Gabe King, who is some mega star, changes my life. Our first meeting, he thought I was some lunatic fan but thanks to his sister, Zoe, we become friends. The more we talk and hang out, the more I get to know the real Gabe King and the constraints of being a celebrity. When he kisses me, I melt. But when it gets leaked to the press, I realize what it means to be Gabe King’s girlfriend. Will the stress of fam fracture our relationship, or will it build a foundation no one can tear down?


This is Your Life is equal parts nanny/movie star city romance and love triste to New York City. It’s a love triangle between a midwestern woman, a very famous movie star, and the city known as Manhattan. Jennifer Ann Shore’s clearly lived in New York City and you get to experience the city through her lens. Shore creates such positive feelings for NYC, it becomes a character on its own. I loved seeing the nuances of the city through the eyes of the characters. The romance is well-paced in some places and a tad slow in others. The characters, though, are what drives the plot. The friendships which bloom are honest and heartfelt. The emotional tension in This is Your Life propels the story forward to its Hollywood ending. Romance fans will love reading This is Your Life. If you love city romances, you need to read this book. Fans of Carrie and her friends will also enjoy This is Your Life.
