Title: Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones

Author: Sorchia DuBois

Genre: Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Adventure

Book Blurb:

How many Scottish witches does it take to destroy one small-town fortune teller?

Granny’s dying, but Zoraida can save her with a magic crystal of smoky quartz. Too bad the crystal is in Scotland––in a haunted castle––guarded by mind-reading, psychopathic sorcerers.

Getting inside Castle Logan is easy. Getting out––not so much. Zoraida stumbles into a family feud, uncovers a wicked ancient curse, and finds herself ensorcelled by not one but two handsome Scottish witches. Up to their necks in family intrigue and smack-dab in the middle of a simmering clan war, Zoraida and her best friend Zhu discover Granny hasn’t told them everything.

Not by a long shot.

My Review:

Zoraida Grey is a woman on a mission: fly over to Scotland and retrieve a magic crystal in order to save her granny from death. Sure, the castle is haunted and belongs to family members she never knew existed. Easy peasy, right? Nothing is ever easy for Zoraida and before she can lay her hands on the crystal, she's in the middle of a clan war, an ancient curse, and two sexy Scottish male witches. Zoraida must figure out a solution and fast because time is running out and Granny is dying for the crystal.

Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones is a humorous Scottish paranormal adventure I couldn't put down. Zoraida is such a fun heroine and I connected with her right away. The adventure parts in Scotland are so well written, I closed my eyes and was transported there. With a big cast of characters, it might be easy to get lost but each one is detailed brilliantly. They leaped from the pages. The plot itself started out a bit slow but gained momentum once we landed in Scotland. The magical/paranormal elements were well-crafted and filled out the story. The ending had a cliffhanger. Normally, I don't care for that type of ending but it gave me the incentive to start the next book in the series. If you're a fan of gothic paranormal romance, you'll love this book. If you're looking to start a new paranormal romance series, pick up this book today. Fans of Ilona Andrews will also love Zoraida Grey and the Family Stones. Highly recommend!
