Even in a world of magic . . . the healer must trust in love to be healed: A Hand of Magic by @Dian

Title: A Hand of Magic

Author: Diane Moat

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Book Blurb:

Even in a world of magic . . . the healer must trust in love to be healed.

Madison, a healer, is running from the venomous weresnakes when she rescues and heals a werewolf pup who was attacked by a troll. Soon she’s drawn into the pup’s werewolf pack . . . and drawn to the pack’s charismatic and alluring Alpha leader, Alex. Madison swore off love long ago, but the more time she spends with the werewolf pack, the harder it is to push Alex away.

Behind his wolfish grin, Alex Spiros’s cautious and dangerous movements mark him as a predator . . . and the killer for his pack. Something about Madison arouses the protector in him, and it’s not just because she is a healer. He worries about her and wants her to feel safe after being forced to be the weresnakes’ healer. Wanting to protect her and his pack, Alex declares war against the weresnakes.

Time is running out for Madison and the pack unless Alex can bring the war to a victorious end. As the war rages, Madison must decide if she’s ready to bond with pack, and surrender to the even rarer bond with Alex, even if it could all be lost in the upcoming battle.

My Review:

Madison is a healer on the run and the last thing she needs is a Hand (a group of magical beings who are bonded and protect each other) without a healer stalking her. After saving a werewolf pup from a troll, the Hand owes her their gratitude and protection. Reluctantly, she agrees to go with Alex, a virile werewolf, and his Hand back to their home. She's on the run from the weresnakes and needs a place to crash. But the more time she spends with Alex and his Hand, the more attached she grows. Can he truly save her from weresnakes or is she just putting everyone’s lives in danger?

Alex takes one look at Madison and knows she’s his mate. But she’s skittish and afraid so he takes his time. She brings out his protective instincts and he vows to sacrifice his own life for hers, if necessary. While Madison is healing a pregnant werewolf, she unravels the secret behind the wretched curse. Can she undo the curse that’s plagued female werewolves for many years and if so, will that make her stay by his side?

Yowza! What a gripping, steamy paranormal romance! I’ve always had a thing for werewolf romances and this one is superb! Madison is a damaged soul yet finds solace in Alex’s arms. Alex is an alpha male, yet he has a sensitive side, too. Many of the characters I grew attached to and I’m hoping Moat will make this a series. I want to continue in this world and see the stories of the rest of the characters. A must read and highly recommend!

Favorite Character/Quote: Madison. I connected with her right away. She’s been abused by a bunch of weresnakes (eww!) and their cruelty is all she knows. Her walls around her heart are understandable and yet I loved her inner conflict with the new Hand.

My Rating: 5++ stars
