Just This Once, She Would be a Fantasy Instead of the Nightmare She'd Become in Death. . . The S

Title: The Siren's Dream

Author: Amber Belldene

Genre: Romance, Paranormal Romance

Book Blurb:

Revenge never felt so sweet...

Murdered by a bullet intended for her beloved, Katya Dvoynev's fate is to haunt the building where she took her last breath. That is, unless she can lure her killer into her clutches and find the vengeance her mara spirit seeks. But destiny has other plans, and handsome Nikolai Zurkov arrives instead, filling Katya with a desire so strong she must fight to remember it's revenge she seeks, not love…

Investigative journalist Nikolai is on a mission to bring down a corrupt corporation responsible for so many deaths. If the gorgeous ghost who enters his dreams holds the key, Nik has no problem sharing in the seductive beauty's nightly encounters. But when he discovers Katya's intent is murder, he'll do anything to keep her from getting blood on her hands. For only true justice can give her the love she longs for and keep her in his world.

My Review:

Katya, sacrificed herself for her boyfriend by taking a fatal bullet meant for him, is cursed to be a vengeance spirit, roaming the apartment building and scaring its residents. All she seeks is revenge and once she gets her killer in her clutches, she’ll finally be at peace. That is, until she invades the dream of sexy but sad Nikolai and has the most erotic sex of her life.

Nikolai, a hard-nosed journalist, is still grieving the loss of his sister and is on a mission to make the gangster pay for his involvement. But when he accidentally cuts himself shaving and drips blood on the same spot where Katya died, Katya materializes. Nik recognizes her from the dream, only to think she’s a kooky one-night stand. But she pleads for his help and eventually he believes her story. They work together to bring down the same man but when both of their lives are put in jeopardy, will Nik let Katya do what she must to gain peace or will he protect her, even from herself?

I simply loved this story. It’s filled with everything I love in a paranormal romance: two tortured souls brought together by a common goal, an impossible romance, a big bad who turns out to be not so bad in the eyes of forgiveness and three sub-plots dealing with journalistic integrity, companies responsible for toxic chemicals dumped leading to innocent people dying of cancer.

I highly recommend this romance to anyone who loves a solid, realistic story of deception, government corruption, paranormal elements with a sweeping romance and undercurrents of forgiveness, embracing life and being yourself.

Disclaimer: I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley in the hopes I’d review it.

Author Biography:

Amber Belldene grew up on the Florida panhandle, swimming with alligators, climbing oak trees, and diving for scallops—when she could pull herself away from a book. As a child, she hid her Nancy Drew novels inside the church bulletin and read mysteries during sermons—an irony that is not lost on her when she preaches these days.

Amber is an Episcopal Priest and student of religion. She believes stories are the best way to explore human truths. Some people think it’s strange for a minister to write romance, but it is perfectly natural to Amber, because she believes the human desire for love is at the heart of every romance novel and God made people with that desire. She writes paranormal, historical, and contemporary romance in every spare moment, and she lives with her family in San Francisco.
