Title: The Wicked Viscount

Author: Heather McCollum

Genre: Historical Romance

Book Blurb:

1685, Scottish Highlands

Cat Campbell knows all about Nathaniel Worthington, fifth Viscount of Lincolnshire. The determined Englishman is never far from Finlarig Castle, where his sisters train women to do more than read and write. And thanks to the fiery kiss they shared nearly a year ago he is never far from her thoughts. No one ever trained her how to forget an irresistible man.

Nathaniel knows he should keep his distance from the fierce Scottish lass, but when an urgent letter from Queen Catherine calls Cat to London, he can’t resist volunteering to escort her. The tension between the two has simmered for months, but the long journey in close quarters creates a raging wildfire that could burn them both.

Secrets of their past and the treachery lurking at court put both their future together and their very lives at risk.

Each book in The Campbells series is STANDALONE:

* The Scottish Rogue * The Savage Highlander * The Wicked Viscount

My Review:

Cat Campbell is a Scottish lass through and through with special healing knowledge. She’s also a Rose which means she can fight her way out of any skirmish. But when she receives a plea from Queen Catherine for help, she’ll need more than her weapons to keep her enemies at bay. She’ll need to hold onto her heart for her escort is none other than the wickedly handsome Englishman Nathaniel Worthington, Viscount of Lincolnshire. Once they reach London, the closeness she feels with Nathaniel flees and he acts like he’s got a stick up his bum. Women hang onto his frame and Cat seethes with jealousy. Can she transform herself into a lady and uncover the villain behind the poisoning or has she just put her own life in peril? If only Nathaniel would return to being her very own wicked viscount.

The Wicked Viscount was an absolute pleasure to read. Not only does it have an independent heroine who speaks her mind but it’s a feast for any historical reader. Descriptive narration thrust be back in time and I experienced every nuance of the story, from the clothing to the jockeying for position at court. The romance between Cat and Nathaniel was slow then burst into flame. The conflict growing in Nathaniel was honest and well-drawn out. The intrigue of who was responsible for the poisoning kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending made me swoon with happiness.

If you’re looking for a sweeping historical romance where opposites attract, pick up The Wicked Viscount today. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
