Our son’s wedding was this past September. I can go on and on and tell you about the wonderful wedding weekend and bore you with family pictures. I promise I won’t do that to you. But I do want to tell you about something I made sure to tell them both.

After months of planning, I knew the weekend would go by quickly… too quickly. So, before the rehearsal dinner, while things were still relatively quiet we sat down together.

I told them my secret to remembering important moments. Stop. Say to yourself, “I want to remember this.” In essence I told them to stop and acknowledge they are thankful for the moment.

In today’s hectic world filled with sound bites and tweets, we can be easy overlook life’s blessings. There’s never enough minutes in the day, always other things that need to be done, obligations to our family and friends, house chores, work requirements, the list goes on and on. It’s at these times when taking a quiet moment to remember, be thankful, can give you renewed energy, and even strength to lighten the load.
