Title: A Sleigh Ride for Eliza

Author: Nancy Fraser

Genre: Sweet historical western romance

Book Blurb:

Eliza Carson left the safety of her small-town home for New York City with plans to establish herself as a serious performer. Seven years later, her maternal grandmother’s illness pulls her back to Big Bend, Colorado as an entirely different woman than she was when she left.

Cole Stewart also grew up in Big Bend and left at eighteen to join the army. After moving around the country as a U.S. Marshal in Denver, Cole accepts a transfer to Big Bend and welcomes the chance to return to the town of his youth. The town’s abuzz with the news that Eliza—now a famous costume designer for both silent films and the stage—is coming home. How will this granddaughter of the town’s eccentric matriarch fit in now that she’s been to the big city?

More importantly, how will Cole keep the peace when everyone wants their chance to hob nob with a bona fide celebrity? Including himself.

My Review:

Eliza never thought she’d be returning home to Big Bend, but her grandmother’s illness leaves her no alternative. Once home, she realizes she’s a celebrity, even in the eyes of handsome Cole. With Christmas approaching, can she take the time to explore these feelings for Cole?

A Sleigh Ride for Eliza is a sweet historical western romance I thoroughly enjoyed. Nancy Fraser writes an emotional yet sweet historical romance set in the rugged frontier of Colorado. The emotional narration hooked me from page one. The romance is sweet, heartfelt, with a touch of second chance charm.

Let’s talk about these characters. Eliza is a heroine I connected with from the start. Her love for her grandmother is evident but so is her love for the theater. She left home to become an actress but found her skill as a costumer made her a star. She never thought she’d return home but with her grandmother ill, she drops everything. She’s a different woman than when she first left home. I enjoyed reading her story. A strong, independent woman is rare in this era but so is Eliza.

Cole is a hero after my own heart. He’s a rugged marshal who has fought bad guys and won. Yet, he’s a little starstruck by Eliza. It’s so adorable. When love steals his heart, it’s a heartwarming sight.

This tender romance will tug at your heart strings. Perfect reading for the holiday season.
