Genre Fantasy, YA Fantasy

Publisher Rook and Castle Press

Book Summary:

When Brigit, the dryad, ran away from the land of the fae to be a university student, her life gets complicated when she must room with a human who is under a death spell by a siren.

Book Blurb Excerpt

Impulsively, she dodged into the closet, pressing herself into the layers of clothes on hangers, and gently squeezing the hinged doors shut.

Ouch! Mind your elbows, you scrawny twig!

“Shush,” she warned the closet monster.

How dare you, you little upstart! I could eat you in one gulp.

Knowing the dangerous nature of these creatures, Brigit grabbed a finger and bent the digit back sharply, hissing, “Shut your piehole, or I’ll give you something to cry about.”

The monster gurgled, its thousand eyes bulging more than usual. Its mouth flapped open, revealing dozens of sharp spiky teeth in the little light coming through the split in the folding doors.

Do you always breathe so loud, fae twig? The human is not deaf.

The creature’s rank breath blew onto her pointed ear, and Brigit gave him a sideways glare filled with acute dislike.

“If he opens this closet,” she whispered back, “he’ll be so busy mopping up what remains of you he won’t have time for me.”

“I also had an interesting time,” the True Beast said, ignoring the materialization of the knight. “This family is under a curse.”

“Duh,” said Brigit, warily eyeing the ghost who was floating about a foot off the ground. “This guy probably knows something about it.”

Taking Brigit at her word, the knight began to speak, “For three days, I shall warn those at the Château du Puis. On the third night, one of you will die.”

The púca commented, “Sounds like we will be leaving tomorrow.”

Title A Study in Spirits #2

Author Byrd Nash

Genre Fantasy, YA Fantasy

Publisher Rook and Castle Press

Book Summary:

A haunted library and a fae university are under threat when a mythical monster prowls the stacks along with the ghosts.

Book Blurb Excerpt:

Ladislas was turning it over in his hands, stroking the smooth wood.

“A longbow made of wych yew. Some see it as inferior to traditional yew, but wych yew makes a flatter, wider bow. Makes a better balance when you draw.”

Continuing in an instructive voice, he nocked an arrow. It had an obsidian arrow-point and black fletchings.

“These arrows are exceptional. A unique blend of three Elements: Wind, Wood, and Stone.”

With an easy, smooth draw, Brigit’s father brought his hand to his pointed ear and aimed the arrow’s tip at Logan. “The enchantment makes each arrow always strike true.”
