My Review:


A traumatic event in the grove changes the lives of five friends as they fight to save the world using their five senses. Just when they least expect it, five friends experience supernatural abilities of the senses: touch, taste, sight, hearing, and smell. They’ve been chosen to defend good and eliminate evil. With each battle, they step closer to the truth and gain an understanding of their powers. As the obstacles keep coming, will these five friends defeat all their enemies and bring down the Druth or will it all be too much to take?


Discovery of the Five Senses is an outstanding young adult superhero fantasy adventure I couldn’t put down. Full disclosure: I read the first edition back in 2015 and I found it enjoyable. This is the second edition, and it truly is an edge-of-your-seat adventure I couldn’t stop reading. The plot moves at a quick pace with a fair share of action scenes to whet the appetite of any reader. The world-building is second to none, meaning it pulls the reader in and doesn’t let go until the last page. K.N. Smith is a gifted writer whose imagination oozes from every page of Discovery of the Five Senses. The descriptive narration is intricate with just the right amount of detail without overloading the reader’s senses. The five main characters, though, are what make this an unputdownable read. I connected with each character in a different way and was heavily invested in their journey. I’ve not read many fantasy books that surprise me but this one did. An original superhero fantasy to be savored. Discovery of the Five Senses is a feast for the senses. Highly recommend!
