My Review:
Eiko’s shock over discovering the man she loves isn’t dead is short-lived when her next mission could bring death. Can they bring down the evil dictator and restore order or will they all die? Found Among the Stars is a brilliant science fiction romance. The action scenes are intense. The world-building is a feast for the senses. The descriptive narration grabs the reader for an epic adventure. The romance is tension-filled but soul satisfying. The characters, though, are what make Found Among the Stars an unputdownable read.
Let’s start with the world-building. I’m a voracious reader of sci fi romance. I know what works and what doesn’t. For me, world-building is the cornerstone of any great story. Here, Vicky Burkholder builds a universe in space that’s realistic but futuristic, imaginary yet logical, techno and immersive all at once. Detailing down to the smallest detail, Vicky Burkholder writes science fiction Gene Roddenberry would appreciate.
Then there’s the characters. All the characters, even the bad ones, are fully developed and well-written. I connected with Eiko most of all. Her plight, her strength, her quick thinking drew me to her.
If you love science fiction romance that’s character-driven, read Found Among the Stars.
My Rating: 5+ stars
