Her heart clenched in her chest. Her throat

constricted as her mouth opened and a small puff of air

released. A tiny white cloud of breath hung in the frigid

air but that wasn’t what held her paralyzed.

A woman stood in front of her door.

A transparent woman.

The apparition raised its arm and opened its mouth.

Julie spun around and fled. Adrenalin pumping

through her system, she raced down the stairs and

barreled into a large, immovable object.

A scream bubbled up inside her throat, but she

choked it back.

“Easy there, Julie. What’s the rush?”

She blinked up at a smiling Joe. His arms held her

steady, but his smile slowly faded. “Julie? What’s

wrong?” He gripped her shoulders.

“I…there.” She swallowed and tried again. “There

was a woman.”

“A woman?” He looked up the stairs. “What

woman? Did she say something to upset you? Do

something?”

“No, no, she was a…”

He stared at her patiently, a worried frown on his

face.

Rubbing the bridge of her nose, her gaze dropped to

the floor. “You’re probably going to think I’m crazy, but

there was a ghost standing in front of the door to my

room.”

Denise Carbo writes Paranormal Romance, Romantic Suspense, and Contemporary Romance. She is a voracious reader, loves to travel, is fascinated by the supernatural, and enjoys figuring out the culprit of books and movies before the ending is revealed.
