Theran’s world is turned upside down when a governess protects his daughter yet can he overcome the scandal when he falls for sweet Purity? After losing his wife, the last thing on Theran’s mind is love. All he cares about is his dear daughter so when a governess named Purity makes accusations about abuse from his daughter’s acting governess, he’s floored. Apparently, he’s been blind and not seen what is right under his nose. He fires his sister-in-law who has been his daughter’s governess and after some coaxing from his aunt and uncle, he hires Purity as his new governess. He knows it’s a huge mistake because he’s attracted to her. Purity is far too charming, not to mention outspoken and religious, but there’s something about her that draws him in. He hasn’t felt this way in so long, he wonders if it can be love or just a fleeting attraction. When an old rival tries to discredit Purity, he realizes the truth and all he sees is lovely, beautiful Purity. Can they make a match, or will long-buried secrets tear them apart?


His One and Only Lady is an emotional Regency romance that will have you delving into the past as you root for this couple. I’ve been a huge fan of Collette Cameron for almost a decade. She’s written a masterpiece here and it truly should be read by anyone who reads historical romance. First, the characters are brilliantly portrayed, and they leap off the page. From their clothing, language, manners, and social circles, everything is historically accurate. Collette Cameron takes her research seriously and as a reader, I revel in the world she’s created. The romance between Purity and Theran is slow, sweet, and wholesome. Collette Cameron takes care to present their relationship for what it is: a scandalous affair between a gentleman and a servant. The fun lies in these two bucking the rules and falling in love. I also enjoyed the secondary characters as they added humor, tenderness, and drama to the story. The letters at the beginning of each chapter are a clever way of filling in gaps in the story. If you’re looking for a heartfelt historical romance, pick up His One and Only Lady. Another masterfully written romance from Collette Cameron. Fans of Bridgerton will adore His One and Only Lady. Highly recommend!
