Title: Hit and Run ?: A Brad Petronella novella (Brad Petronella novellas Book 1)

Author: F. J. Donohue

Genre: Suspense, Thriller, Legal Thriller, Short Story

Book Blurb:

A hit and run or was it murder? District Attorney Mary Louise Eldridge has doubts. Too many loose ends. Enter Brad Petronella retired investigator for the DA now a volunteer mediator at the Resolution Center. His investigation uncovers a shocking series of events. Using his mediation skills, he also helps resolve a colleague's family issue. A short read set in upstate NY, this book is rich in local color and people helping each other.

My Review:

District Attorney Mary Louise Eldridge thinks the devastating car crash is anything but an accident. She calls on Brad Petronella who's a volunteer mediator at the court's Resolution Center. The victim was part of a difficult divorce and he wonders if the ex-wife made good on her threat. Is it coincidence or murder? The more he investigates, the more he uncovers. Will he bring the criminal to justice or has he investigated his last case?

Hit and Run? is a short suspenseful story I couldn't put down. The plot moves at a good pace with plenty of colorful characters. It starts off with the car crash and the suspense builds from there. I loved the character Brad and his investigative skills reminded me of Mickey Haller (from Michael Connelly's Lincoln Lawyer series). The whodunit itself kept me guessing and the ending left it open for more cases. What makes this a must-read suspense for me is the realism the author imbues into the setting. Well written and one I highly recommend! I look forward to more from this author.

Author Biography:

I’m a retired International Sales Director having worked in the commercial and military flight simulation industry for over 30 years. I lived in Brussels, Belgium and Bonn, Germany for 8 years and met my British wife in Brussels. Before my career in the flight simulation industry I was an Armament and Electronics Maintenance Officer in the USAF. We have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Since retirement I continue to chase an ever-elusive golf game.

Home is a small town in central New York State where the novellas are set.

I am a volunteer mediator and Lemon Law arbitrator. In the novellas I always have one of the characters involved in a mediation or a Lemon Law claim.

This is my first novella and I plan on releasing a series of Brad Petronella cozy mysteries.

An underlying theme in my novellas is people helping people. In spite of the difficulties and crime that may surround us, there is always hope in friendship and good neighbors.

I typically spend the winter season in Tampa, FL and spring, summer and fall in New York.
